| My daughters jack russell has terrible allergies, the vet said he doesn't like giving the steroid shots, as they're not good for them..Ill try and remember to ask her what she got for him on the last visit instead of the shot, as whatever it was seems to be working..I know my moms vet changed her dogs(that had bad allergies) food, and now he's doing really well also.. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | What food is he on? Food allergies are terribly common in these little guys. There are natural remedies out there, but if it were me, I'd look first to diet. I can also recommend a great animal nutritionist who works w/ my Marcel: http://www.askariel.com/

| I would recommend trying to find a solution to the allergies as well instead of just going the steroid route. Steroids are hard on the immune system and inhibit a normal immune response. Have you had an allergy test done? I would start there and try to find out exactly what he's allergic to.

| Allergies Zachery eats Royal Canin Mini for Yorkshire Terriers. I get it from Petsmart and its the only food I found that he will eat. Bless his heart he's so picky! I didn't know if anybody out there would know of any home remedies. Someone told me to put liquid Benedryl on the part of his skin that's irritated...Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

| I was just searching for info on Royal Canin and found your thread. This is a big problem with this food. I would switch for 60 days and see how it goes. My Yorkies was terribly itchy on it.

| Mine has allergy problems also...the vet changed her to Royal Canin IVD which is a limited ingredient food (think you can only buy it at the vets) and Relief shampoo (she is to be shampooed twice a week and leave it on for 10 min.) She also has the Relief spray. |

| Beau had TERRIBLE food allergies and I didn't want him on meds because of long term effects and such...so I put him on a no grain diet and he is doing WONDERFUL!! Of course if your pup is allergic to meat than that wouldn't help...but if it is grains I would suggest feeding Innova Evo. Good luck!
