| trying to suck in air My baby, Axle, is really breathing heavily at times. More often than before. I know this is somewhat common with the Yorkie breed, but this is almost all day every day, especially the last two days. I've made the appointment with the Vet tomorrow afternoon. Is anyone more familiar with this and what should I expect next to happen? Thanks for your time, Carrie |

| Sounds like your baby might have a collapsed trachea, which is common in Yorkies. I hope it's not! Good luck at the vet's! |

What is the weather like where you are at now? Do not let him go out in the cold at night that will start the coughing, did the vet give you anything to help him sleep at night? "breathing hard" sounds to me like bronchitis along with the chest infection....did they do x-rays of his chest and did the vet show them to you showing you a white cloud like somewhere on the chest area??? ask the vet why he thinks your lil guy got an infection in his chest......some times its from a sinus infection and that needs to be treated at the same time. This also effects their eyes and ears, and they sleep a lot. If he doesn't treat the main source, he will get it again. There are other reasons for chest infections but thats why you need to know, to help your lil guy and your pocket book....lol Wash all his bedding and if he sleeps with you wash your bedding, clean the sofa if you likes napping there or put a clean sheet on the sofa so it will be much easier to wash durning this time. When you take him back for his follow up have a list of questions for the vet and if the vet saids something you don't understand don't be afraid to ask what that is, because we are not the vets they are and if you can't think of any questions at the moment just tell him just that and let him know that if later you do have question that you will be calling him.....and do call them they don't charge for that. Sorry for this being so long but I have been there and almost lost my lil girl because the vets office would not listen to me when I would bring up things about her..... their excuse was "Oh this is typical of this breed", grrrrrrr. Well I hope all goes well, best wishes to you both.
