| Pre blood work ?'s I contacted my vet and they said that it would cost $ 105 It includes: everything, lol. They hate me at this vet, lol. Because I told them I want to bring her home just like I did Aubrey. And they always ask for my last name and then they say "oh, yeah" haha. Should I get the pre bloood work done? |

| I never have with any of my personal dogs or fosters, but since she is so small I would probably do it.

| I did, and next year if Kalani needs to go under anesthesia again to remove retained puppy teeth I will do it again

| If she is under 5 pounds, then yes, I would do it. Some of the smaller babies have trouble handling the anesthesia, and that's something I'd rather know BEFORE, kwim?

| Yes, definately. Our vet charges about $95, so that is fair. The best thing that could happen is everything would be fine and now they have current bloodwork on her. That will probably be the case. That "oh yeah" thing is pretty funny. I don't understand why all these vets want the animals to stay overnight without someone there. That is so dangerous. You know, Ellie's vet has a vet there 24 hours (not just a tech) and they send spays home the same day. In fact, I picked Ellie up four hours after her spay AND liver biopsy. I could have gotten her about 2 and 1/2 hours after. She could barely sit up when I got her though so it was a bit scary but she wasn't in much danger.

YT 500 Club Member | We did, and the vet charged us $45 and that included everything. He sent ran it in his office to make sure Armani could go under and then he also sent it off to another lab because he wanted to run more extensive labs for me (I am a huge worrier and I wanted to know if I should run a bile acid, which he said wouldn be necessary if all the other results came back good, which they did.)

| Well I have to wait until January to get her spayed becuase she fell of the bed, and they want to make sure everything is ok, even though she seems to be fine, there still could be internal damage. |

| Tatiana11, Ellie's blood work looked pretty normal (only her ALT was slightly elevated) when her bile acids tested high. Regular bloodwork can come back normal and the bile acids could still be high.

| Yes, I would surely have the blood work done and in fact my vet would never do it without it being done.

| It doesn't say but I take it that this is for Dakota to be neutered? I would take him home too but with a female it is major surgery so I would leave a female over night. 99% of vets have coverage over night or they would not keep them....the idea being they are there and can watch for any problem that can arise. Many times they need an I.V.

| yes, dakotas a girl. My vet doesn't have anyone staying there over night. I asked that last time when I got Aubrey neutered. That was a little over a month ago. Theres a doctor on call, but no one there 24-7. |

| Ok, they just told me to bring her in a day or two before. But now since I have to wait until January, I will wait closer to time. I hope she doesn't go into heat before then!! |

| Definitely get it done Regular bloodwork won't show a problem in the liver unless the liver has 70% damage to it already... That's why a Bile Acid Test is so important if you want to know if your dog may have a liver problem.
