| HELP...the vet said my baby boy got parainfluenza...??? hi so heres the story, I just went to this new vet that a friend recommended, coz my old vet lives on the other side of town. I went there to get my baby boy MAX (3 months) a vaccine. after complete check on his physical, this vet discover MAX has a swollen throat, and showed me. well, his throat is a bit reddish at the end, not pink like the rest of his mouth. so this vet said he got parainfluenza, and need antibiotics ASAP. so the vet gave him a shot containing antibiotics, and priscribe antibiotic pills for the next 10 days. but MAX never sneeze or cough, eat like a horse, very active and playful all this time.. so could the vet be wrong?? should I give him the pills or go to my old vet?? |

| Did you trust the new vet? I recently moved and went to a vet over here in an emergency and it was an aweful experience. My pup wasn't eating or drinking and was vomitting a LOT. They just looked at her gave her water under the skin an antibiotic and let me go..for $80!! No tests or anything so I called my old vet and she told me Roo needed IV fluids and to go to the ER vet! Anyway long story short I will be making the one and a half hour trek to go to my old vet who is awesome from now on. If you don't trust the new vet's diagnosis- definitely go to your old vet- though I'm not sure it would hurt max to just take the antibiotic but maybe call your vet and ask what they think and then take max back there from then on- it's worth the drive! |

| You said yourself you saw Max's throat was red at the end. Why second guess your new vet? I would give Max the meds and hope it gets better. |

| I agree with Archie give him the meds. You probably didn't bring it up to your old vet and he didn't notice.
