| how old was your baby when you took him to the groomer first time? I am thinking about taking my 5 month old but not sure yet. If you can give me any tips any suggestions they will be great. What to tell the groomer etc!. |

| Well, I took Murfee in for his first (and only) groom when he was about 6 months old. I took him to the groomer located in my vet's office. Thought that would be safe in case anything happened to him. See, I am a little paranoid about leaving him. First of all, they kept him for several hours and second, it was a horrible cut. Since I don't like leaving him, I have done it myself ever since. No, I am not trained but I figured I could do better than the one there that was trained. So for the last 3 years Murfee has had his hair cuts at home. I have kind of looked around both for the kind to take him and the mobil groomers but since we are attached at the hip I just do it myself. |

| Winston was 3 months old and weighed 3 lbs the very 1st time, but I really think it was more for him to get acquainted with everything, the noises, the sights and people. Well he got use to it, he's 3 years old now and he goes every 2 weeks. She really does take good care of him and has always done a great job. She's very patient...

| Gracie went for the first time at 6 1/2 months. I took my time to find a groomer that loves Yorkies! Her first experience was great, as the rest have been. She goes about every six weeks and loves it!

| Zada and Azrael have never been groomed by anyone but me. I just kept their ears, feet and pads cut till they were over a year old and I got clipper happy and cut them down short except for the legs, tail and face. Now I'm letting Zada's grow back out but will continue to keep Azraels short on her body because she has hair so thick it just took forever just to get it brushed out and was having to do that two and three times a day. |

| Remy had her first grooming at 4 months, she weight 4 lb. It was more to get her used to being prof. groomed, so the first time I had my groomer just trim the ears ,trim the feet and nails, and trim the potty area...oops ...and give her a bath....but, not in that order...she got the bath first...and then.. all that other stuff.......well now that I've totally messed up my post , its to much worked to figure out what i really wanted to say so im going to get a glass of wine...... Eileen OH here's a photo of Remys first haircut.....okay it was just a slight trim! tmpphpDb63WE.jpg Now im going for that wine! |

| I agree with everyone else... wait until your baby has all the required shots. the first cut won't or shouldn't be major, the second is when you get to have more fun with... my almost one year old is getting a mowhawk this Thursday for a fun mother's day picture

| I would think that you would want to get the Bordatella shot.....since your dog will be in there with potentially a whole bunch of other dogs.

| I took my almost 4 month old for the first time yesterday, and I was so pleased. It was quite cheap ($5) because he is so small and the cut was exactly what I wanted. I even picked up a sweater for him at cost-price - $3 - (because I told the groomer that I am a student). I just had to rave about this! It was really great and he loved the groomer as well. She is a yorkie lover, so that made it all perfect. |
