tired of the groomer getting it wrong

To those of you that want to groom your own yorkie...go for it. You can do it. There are so many resources available (internet, grooming books...) Go slow, experiment...it's hair...it grows back. Have fun with it!

That little 45 seconds was very stressful for everyone in the salon (the woman and her child, her dog, me, other humans in the shop and the rest of the dogs). I still won't ever tell someone that they can't stay but it is much easier to have mom go have lunch or go shopping and come back when we are done.

I wouldn't have a problem at all leaving my dog with someone I trusted. I guess dogs are like kids, Kids usually do better if the parents are not in the room like if they are getting stitches or something like that, kids will cry and kick and scream 10 times worse with mom or dad in the room because they think that will get their way with parents in the room. I know this is my down fall but I have issues with trusting new people.

so, the ones out there that groom, do you use clippers or just the trimmers for a regular cut, I was looking at pricing today and noticed the trimmers are less, since i'm not going butch, I dont know that i'd need the clippers... but-we'll see. i better get the book
but you guys are right, it's hair, it will grow back and maybe it will make our bond a little better between my dog and I........wish me luck!

I have clippers because as soon as my dog is a finished champion they get the royal buzz cut LOL.

If you like the longer hair I would use thining shears. I never shave between the eyes.

All this is my preference of course and since I can groom my own it's alot cheaper with all my crew LOL

I use scissors like under the chin and cut up around the face to the ears and then for the top of the head I use the thinning shears and once I get my desired look I use the thinning shears around the face to give a softer appearance and if the coat is thick it helps thin it out. Give the top of the head a layered look. I hope this helps.
