contemplating short cut did anyone get their yorkie a short cut then regret it? I'm trying to let dixie's hair grow long but she always looks so straggled even brushing her daily sometimes 2x a day....so I am thinkin maybe a short cut :( for those that did, did you leave the face/head hair long and just have the rest short? |
im bumping this up for you... i would leave the face alittle longer.. |
thank you...and if anyone has a good pic of their yorkie short cut with long hair on the face I would like to see them and to show my groomer...thank you :) i been looking in the gallery but cant find any like im thinking of......... |
1 Attachment(s) Here is a picture of Chloe after she got groomed. The hair on her head wasnt really long but longer then her body. Its not a very good pic but its all I had. |
The long hair is difficult keeping it looking nice. It always looks stringy. I think the cutest cut is cut really short on the body, keep the legs tail and face long but trimmed and leave enough on top for a bow. |
1 Attachment(s) I found this phot and held on to it in case I ever decide to go short. I think it's a good photo to take to a groomer if you want a short cut. |
yes i think I am going to get her body short thank you for the pics :) |
This is Tank with an all around short cut. I like it this way because it's easy to manage and I think it keeps him looking like a puppy. Good luck on your decision. Just know that your pup will look very different once you get them cut. It always takes me a bit to get used to how small Tank looks with all of his hair gone!! I'm sure you will love it and remember that it will grow out again if you don't;) |
i cant wait to see his pic :) |
3 Attachment(s) I finally went short with Sophie's and I have not regretted it one day. I will post a couple pics so you can see her style.:) |
oh I love that cut, sophie is a beauty too :) thank you for showing me the pic :) yep, I'm gonna do it :) |
I cut both of mine short and I love it and I don't think I will ever go long again. |

You can see from my pic that I keep their hair short. Usually not this short tho. Rocky hasn't had his first haircut yet but I had to cut Darcy's really short because Rocky kept taking mouthfuls of Darcy's facial hair and dragging her around. I think that by the time Rocky calms down, Darcy's hair will be the length I like. I do keep the hair above the eyes cut short with no topknot. Our first Yorkie kept taking hers out and eating the bows. We decided not to bother with them anymore. Depending on the cut, your babies can look like totally different dogs! |
2 Attachment(s) Sorry apparently my pictures were too big and then I got caught in the snow storm while travelling. Here's my Tank with his short hair. |
thank you for the replies and pictures. I have decided to keep all 3 of my babies hair short...at least for now. hopefully next week I can get them in for a haircut :) |
4 Attachment(s) well we did it, a little shorter than i wanted but im ok with it, she looks nice now :) and i bet she feels alot better too..only thing is her black hair is mostly gone, she has alot of silver now on her body |
I love the new haircut! I think it looks great! |
I love the first picture, my question is how do they cut it that way, do they use clippers or scissors. That is how I want my Bruiser but I dont know what to tell the groomer |
2 Attachment(s) My groomer uses a #5 or #4 blade (I don't remember) and cuts a teddy bear face. Which leave his face furry and cute but not to much hair. These were the only pictures I could find right now but I will look for some more. He actually NEEDS to be groomed in these pix but it will give you an idea.:D |

2 Attachment(s) What blade did they use on Reece or how did they do it? This what I want. Here is how Cody looks after his cut. But this is a #5 blade and a teddy bear face. What do you tell them to do to get Reece like that? |
Reece looks great! |
Hootie and Hobbs both have short cuts. I have always kept them short. It is so much easier to manage. Sometimes I go days without brushing them and they've never gotten a matt. I can also go longer between baths. |
I trim Kiba's hair myself. He seems a lot happier when it's short. I usually just trim a little off his face, to keep the hair out of his eyes, and keep his body a short-medium length. He never gets tangles or mats. |
Reece looks so cute with his haircut. You've convinced me to go ahead and get short cuts for my boys. Reece looks so much like my little Dylan except Dylan's back hair is still pretty dark. Was Reece's hair pretty thin? |
Thanks everyone for the compliments on Reece...I was shocked how different he looked...so much cuter...when I go back and look at him with the straggly hair I wonder why I waited so long lol...I am not sure what size blade they used on him but I am very pleased with my groomer...she is really awesome with dogs. I know you will be happy if you try the yorkie cut too...its so much neater looking..I just dont have patience with trying to grow out a long coat and Reece wont keep a bow in his hair so I was missing out on those beautiful eyes!!
