| cotton/silky fur I just got my first yorkie 2 months ago and he is now 5 months old. Max has silky hair on his head but the rest of his body is cotton fur. Is that normal to have two different coat textures? Will it eventually grow out silky all over? I read some of the forums about the eye colors. In his pictures his eyes reflect blue or yellow. With a flashlight, in the dark, they reflect green. I was also wondering when he will stop growing. He is a purebred and already weighs 6.5 pounds. Is that normal? I would really appreciate many responses. Thank you so much. Melissa |

| I have the same problem with Hannah. She is 17 weeks old now. I have been so obsessed with her coat since I got her. The hair on her back is fuzzy and the hair on her head and face is silky. I have tried to get a green flash in her eyes so much I am surprised she isn't blind. I must say that over the past couple of weeks her coat on her back is much nicer than it used to be. I started her on wellness dog food about 3 weeks ago and started on the missing link about 2 weeks ago. I don't know if that is what is helping or if maybe that the fuzz is her puppy coat and it is just changing as she gets older. Also I started using cowboy magic conditoner and detangler and it has helped alot. |

| Not sure about the coat textures. As for the size, there are big and small yorkies, in short different size yorkies. Mine is 9.5 pounds at 7 months old, purebred yorkie. Look around in this forum, you will see yorkies with all different sizes. Its normal.

And yes, it's possible for their head piece to be silk and their body to be cotton.

| Thank you Mardelin. That helped a lot. I saw that you show yorkies. That is so neat. How long have you been doing that? I am a teacher and very involved in my church ministries so I don't have time to do something like that but it is very interesting to me. Melissa |

I have 1 soft coated (companion baby) that for the 1st couple of years, I kept her in coat.......after fighting it and starting with the dog shows....she's been cut down to a puppy cut.....she loves it. Well at 1st she hid for a couple of days....now she just prances around here like she's a puppy again

For some reason the ones I've cut down, after their show carrier is over, just love it.....they think they're pups again.....or it could be the fact that they don't have to have those wraps on anymore.
