Its a conditioner, on my site its in the category Cowboy Magic. Here is the description of what it is and what it does. COWBOY MAGIC Detangler and Shine will neutralize static hair electricity instantly. Knots and dreadlocks fall out tangle free right away, no matter how difficult. The silk protein in COWBOY MAGIC Detangler and Shine results in a high shine after brushing. It is concentrated: Pure conditioning, contains no water or alcohol, does not dry hair. It works instantly: Detangles as you rub it in and keeps on working, resulting in less grooming time and less product used, saving time and money. It is a deep conditioner: Penetrates below the surface and restores moisture while strengthening hair, resulting in a natural shine with a soft texture. It is long lasting: Repels dirt, dust, and sand, resulting in a shine that lasts longer. Not oily. It neutralizes static electricity: Instantly detangles hair that is difficult to brush and comb. Minimizes hair loss due to pulling and breakage. It only takes a small amount: A small amount (about the size of a nickel) massaged into wet or dry hair will instantly detangle and deep condition. Continue to add nickel sized amounts and brush through until a rich, silky-smooth, shine appears. Its really awesome stuff!

No, you leave it in. You do not need very much of it for it to work. Just get a little dab and rub it into your dogs coat, then brush and the mats will just come right out. I still use shampoo and conditioner before applying the cowboy magic.

I swear by Cowboy magic. I got a "Horse book" in the mail the other day. I'm sure my mailman got a laugh, as I'm 3 miles from downtown Mobile, AL. I will get my next batch locally though. I can drive out to west Mobile and get it cheaper than what I was charged for shipping. Thats one of the few things I will never run out of!
