| Tipping the groomer Okay, quick question...I take Bella to a groomer who works out of her home...she used to own a really prestegious shop but closed down and is now grooming some pups in her home. I was referred to her from an acquantience. I take bella every 4-6 weeks for a wash and clip of the nails and ears...she trims her up sometimes too. Anyhow, she charges $30 and does all of this in her basement...nothing fancy, but I really like her and she is very quick, in fact, I wait and chat with her while she's grooming. Should I tip her?????? Normally I tip EVERYONE, and I have been tipping her, but didn't tip her today b/c I was thinking that she has no overhead and the $30 is all hers. I was taking Bella somewhere else before I found this wonderful lady, and they only charged b/t 15-20, so it's not like she's cheap...what do you guys think??? Am I being cheap????????????????

| As a groomer , tips are great if you own your own place or not. It will get you in when she is full and it will secure your place at the Holidays. If you choose not to tip, be sure to tell her how very much you appreciate her. It is not easy to find a groomer that is nice to your dog and that does a great job. If you can afford it give, I tip every one too.... |

| Thank you so much for the advice...I usually do tip her...we've only been there 3 times and she is great, so I will take your advice in the future and make sure I do tip her. I just get so confused on these things it's always great to ask other opinions. That's why I love this site Thanks again!

| Tipping should not be mandatory... Tipping should be for a job well done. If this groomer lets you stay and watch her, she is a keeper. Remember even though she has no overhead she is probably not doing the amount of dogs as she used to, so her income is reduced a bit. I plan one day to move my shop to my garage and I will do less dogs so the price will have to stay the same. At the shop I do about 8 to 10 dogs a day, when I move it to home it will probably only be four or five as I get older. I will choose the clients that will get to follow me home, they will be nice and their dogs will be nice. What a great life I have and what a great job I have. | I personally think you should tip your groomer.. I always tip ours. it may not be much, but anywhere from an extra $5.00( for just shampoo and nail cut) - $10.00 (if she is doing potty areas, etc) When ever I need her, she always gets me worked it. She does exactly what I ask her to and that is hard to find. I always tip the lady who cuts and highlights my hair so I think groomers should get the same. |

| i always tip the girl who grooms lexi, usually 10 dollars, but if she did it in her home, maybe i would give her an extra 5-7 dollars since the money is all going to her,., thats just my way.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I always tip. I am entrusting my most beloved pets to her. My groomer is very reasonable 20.00 when the going rate around here is 35-45. So I usually give her 7-8 dollar tip

| I would probably tip too. However I was reading on a groomer's site and this topic came up and the groomers said while its always great to get a tip its not expected. They even mentioned that some clients would take in a coke and candy bar intstead of a money tip and they loved that too.

| Trust me on this one , your groomer wants a tip, they only make 50% and then taxes are taken out and no matter what the fee is it is not enough to be the one responsible for your pet. So you can take in the coke and the chocolate, us groomers love our chocolate, but if you really like your groomer and you can afford it, tip your groomer!!! And for all you people that tip I want to thank every one of you , it helps us keep going. Debbie Ray www.sumtoiyorkies |

| I always tip my groomer 10.00. She charges 30. She takes very good care of my little one. She has snacks and treats for her when she leaves and she doesn't take all day. Which is really important to me. She is a great groomer that takes Baby with a few days notice!!! Most importantly Baby loves her. She really is worth her weight in gold. |

| I always tip my groomer. She's a mobile groomer and comes to our house in an RV. Everything is in there. She charges $80 for my 2 so we give her an even $100. She always does a great job and my pups love her! That's hard to find! |
