Kristin, I do shave Toto on his undercarriage, and before when he was in full coat I used the metal hair slips that hairdressers use when they cut our hair to hold up the section I didn't want to cut. They hold up a decent amount of hair. When I do his undercarriage he stands for me, and when I get to that flappy chicken skin part near the hips I spread it flat with my hand and shave with the other. Last thing I need to do is nick him, then he will never trust me again with the shavers.

I did, I shaved down Turbo's body & left his legs long. He doesn't like my clunky big clipper, I wanted to use a 5F blade...he'll tolerate my cordless Wahl, but the longest blade is a #9...so it's very short.

It's funny how Toto's & Max's mouth gets dirtier when short loll. I did use curved scissors to cut around the face & finish w/thinning shears to get rid of that choppy look.

This is a great video of a layerd round face cut for drop coats (single coated breeds), it shows how to cut around the mouth @ 5:04 (but his arm is in the way!). But you can see how the mouth part looks. Jonathan David uses thinning shears only. Mine won't tolerate that, all the snipping, so I use curved scissors & finish w/thinning shears. I have medium sized Yorkie that weighs 20 lbs. He gets a haircut called a Yorkiebear hair cut. It keeps him very comfortable and he is fresh looking for the summer time. He really seems to like it.
Ask your groomer about that kind of cut

I just googled that hair cut, that cut is absolutely adorable, my Cody would look adorable in that cut.

Turbo looks SUPER adorable. And after reading this thread I feel grateful to keep Jackson so short He doesn't get brushed for weeks sometimes and is fine, ooppss.

I had to cut Turbo's muzzle shorter...once the hair grew out a little, it kept going in his mouth when he was eating, just like Max & Toto! Lol

Turbo looks adorable, love the Asian hair style. Wish I could keep the Asian style on Cody but his head is always in some hole he has dug in the yard. Turbo has such a beautiful face.

Chip gets the Yorkie Bear about every 6 weeks...it grows out nicely...he's still too young for a complicated do...this cut combs out easily and is really comfortable for him...I let his beard grow a bit longer tho!
