| Stinky Yorkie + best clippers to purchase? Hey, been a while since iv been on here. I have two Yorkies, Bella who is 2 yrs old now, and Buster who is 9 months old. I have a question..... Bella smells beautiful 24-7 regardless of when I last bathed her. Buster stinks 24-7 even when iv bathed him! Lol. Do guy dogs generally smell? He has been neutered, regularly bathed and groomed?! But still always pongs. And when I get in from work I can instantly smell him when I open the door! Any tips on how to resolve this (if it's possible), what shampoos are good, anything else I can do? I already use spritz but doesn't last that long. Also, I groom them myself, I have a fifty pound pair of clippers that are now becoming useless... Does anyone know a good make model to buy? Bella has a silky coat, Buster is more like wire. Thanks a lot for any help anyone can give me, it would be GREATLY appreciated! Lynette, Bella & Buster xxx |

| welcome to yt!! my boy doesn't....unless he rolls in something stinkee which he loves to do. lol I use andis clipppers and really like them. They were a bit pricey I got them on Amazon but very worth it as you can change the blades out so they will last until the motor dies. I assume they both eat the same food? was just thinking maybe that might be something he is excreting internally. hopefully others will chime in with better advice.

| Hey thanks for the reply! I bought some Andis clippers yesterday, they were £130, but considering it will cost me £60 each time to get my two done at the groomers I think it's a bargain! They come with #10 blade, I checked online and seems this is good for Yorkies. I cut both mine short all over body and legs, keeping the face and head trimmed nice with scissors (nice as I can as I'm not a trainer groomer lol, hopefully with time I'll get better!). I'll post some pics when iv done them. As for the stink I'm going to try some new shampoo and bathe him more like once a week n maybe use a conditioner. Do you know if it's ok to use L'oriel for kids shampoo? Thanks Lynette xx |

YT 2000 Club Member | dog If you use a good shampoo and conditioner that should make him smell nice. Now if he is out there licking something that could create a stink. Is it his breath that stinks? Check his teeth. I find that dogs do have a dog smell to them. Yorkie dog lovers do not seem to mind we just love em the way they are! I would try to find out why the smell and take care of it. |

| How does the smell, smell? He could possibly have an underlying issue with a yeast problem...that will make their bodies smell bad. My cousin has one of my retired dogs....last visit to her house I noticed BamBam smelled musky doggie, and his coat was oily, just nasty.....I cant even describe the odor....it just stinks! She was feeding a different kibble.....I had a bag of Royal Canin shipped to her for her to feed BamBam, as I have not ever had an odor/oily fur issue on my dogs....that was 3 months ago....odor is cleared up, coat looking good again.....so looks like I will have to send her food for my little BamBam. |
