Default What's your dog bathing set up look like?

For those of you who don't have a professional grooming bath tub. We are thinking about redoing the upstairs bathroom where I bathe the dogs. I saw a display that had a seat built in the shower for shaving legs or whatever. I thought maybe that would work as a dog bathing area so I don't have to squat down to bathe them. FYI we are getting rid of the bath tub/shower combo and putting in a shower only frameless set up (like how they have in newer homes and nicer hotels). I think maybe to have the seat on the father end of the shower head, and then made a secondary one over the seat with a hand held sprayer. But then I was thinking what if Uni tries to jump off.
Oh and this bathroom is not going to be JUST for the dogs. LOL

I use to bathe Peanut in the kitchen sink. It is a pretty big one, however it would really strain my back. So I started taking him in the shower with me. I will usually do my thing and then call DH to bring me Peanut. Sometimes DH isn’t home so I will just take Peanut in for the full time. He now is use to it and will just sit there LOL I do get the puppy dog eye’s looking up to me when I look down- it’s pretty cute, makes me laugh every time.. Like Oh my god women get me outta here.. then I say Omg Peanut you are so mistreated- you have to stand in a nice warm shower LOL!

It works really well- I also keep his shampoo and conditioner in there. Now I think he likes it. He use to try to get out, now he just stands there nice and calm.. kind of relaxed looking

DH was going to make me laundry sink.. but I don’t want to waste the space for that. Taking him in the shower works the best- I would rather just do that than have a spot made for his baths. I will never groom him myself so it works how it is now.

I love the shower’s with the glass.. we have a tub shower. Eventually when we remodel our two bathrooms I want the stand up shower!!

We don't have anything special for the dogs.
We don't have a bathtub, only the shower and there is were I bathe them, And we have a 1m by 1m table, that I use for the grooming.
Your remodeling plan sounds pretty nice

My shower is set up exactly as you describe. It's 8 x 4, frameless glass door, shower heads/benches on both ends, with an extra hand held sprayer on one side.

I never really thought of bathing Lexi in there, though. But, it would work...if you don't mind getting your feet wet and bending down to bench height for a little while. You could sit on the bench next to her, but then your bum and feet would get wet. And jumping off would certainly be an issue, but you'll be standing right in front of her or sitting right next to her the whole time, I'm sure.

Either way, I say go for the big shower with the seats. It'll look awesome!

That is what we have now. I don't always want to take a shower when I am giving the dogs one. And they day they need one seems to vary. Esp Toto! LOL. So I've been bending over the side over the tub edge and that's been hurting my back. Esp when I have a larger foster, picking them up like that soaking wet is kinda a pain. Plus MIL is getting old and I don't want her to step over the tub edge and/or slip inside the tub one day. Heck even I slipped thank god I didn't actually fall, but it can happen.

I'm thinking if we get the second head installed on the opposite side, I can have just that one on without the main one on so I won't get my back wet, hopefully just my feet will get wet.

So where do you bathe Lexi now? Or are you purely go to the pros?

It's a secret which is why I didn't mention it...
In the kitchen sink...but don't tell anybody!

It's so convenient. It's deep and a big rectangle made just perfect for her. I don't have to bend over and there's plenty of counter space for her stuff so I don't have to reach. Just perfect! But, if I had to choose between bending over the tub with a crook in my neck or the shower bench I certainly go with the bench.

My hand held is installed on the wall next to the shower head. But, when it's turned on the main shower head is off. So, basically it's either the hand held or the head, but not both.

She only goes to the pros when she needs a cut. And, if I could, I'd do that myself too.

Hope to see pics after your project is finished!

Uni is far too tall for the kitchen sink! Even when she was a puppy! She's a reindeer. I will ask the guy if he can rig it so that both can turn on if I want to.

I also use the kitchen sink! My big boy (17lbs) actually fits quite well in it. It's not a huge sink, but it works. I like having the sprayer option. And I generally keep shampoo and conditioner under the sink for easy access.

At my dads house, we use the utility sink in the laundry room for the dogs, but no sprayer and it's a bit more difficult for me.

I too use the kitchen sink....but I am wanting to have a utility sink built into my utility room where the washer/dryer are. With a cabinet and counter top, for dog bathing supplies, dryer, etc.

When I remodeled my kitchen, I gave up having a double sink and installed a single 25" sink in a 30" base cabinet in order to make the new layout work & include room for a dishwasher. My single sink is perfect for pup bathing. ZoE is tall too, but I have no problem fitting her under the raised swan-neck type faucet with built in sprayer.

I sometimes bath her in my regular tub/shower combo, but I remodeled that too (DIY nut here ) and put in a Jacuzzi tub, so the sides are high and a pain (literally....a pain in the back) to reach over. So, she usually only goes in there when I take her in the shower with me.

Here's my kitchen before pic, and a pic from the day the counter was installed, that best shows the sink & high arc of the faucet.

Nice!!! The new layout looks twice as big now!
I think Uni's problem is she always tries to get out. Even in the tub. So the sink was never a go for her.

The upstairs guest bathroom is pretty much the dogs bathroom as we rarely have overnight guests. I have a baby bathtub in the tub. I bath and groom in here so I can leave everything out instead of having to pack it up if I were to use the laundry/mud room. It is also less drafty in the bathroom.

I'm looking at getting a small grooming table. Right now I use a piece of non skid on the counter by the handsink but it's just not so convenient. I've also been grooming my neighbors 2 yorkies so it would make sense to invest in the equipment and save my lower back too.
