puppy first haircut she came back home very sad this is my first time owning a puppy ,before Selah i had rescued older dogs so I'm a new "mommy" to a puppy.Selah is 14 weeks old and just today she had her very first haircut(bath, cleaning of face, ears, nail trimming ,clipping of her paws &hygiene area) . she's a very happy puppy always playing and active. today when i picked her up from the groomer she seemed sad, not to mention that when i picked her in my arms she let out a lil cry =\ she slept all day & seem very sad... before i took her there i did a ton of research on grooming salons around here & i took her to a lady whom has a very good reputation,(25 years of grooming)... is it normal for a puppy to be sad?

ive owned two yorkie puppys and my first ppuppy when she went for a hair cut she was the same however she was very shy and scared says the groomers andthey couldnt cut her hair because of her moving so much, she was very down too and we think this was due to the fact that she was locked in a cage and didnt know them, however we didnt use that groomers again and now use a differnt one which she seemes to be ok with

| I always stay at the groomer while Huey is there, but all we ever have done is feet and nails since I do the rest myself(now). His very first grooming as a little puppy, I left him for the full grooming and they did not follow my directions, so I never went back there and I have never left him anywhere since. A couple of groomers had an issue with that, so they came off the list. I finally found one I love. In the meantime, I took him to petsmart (this was when I was teaching myself to groom him and he needed evening out) because they have a large window where you can watch the whole time. I have read so many horror stories on here about groomers, I am completely paranoid about leaving him unattended anywhere.

Hi! Your pup seems kind of young to go to a groomer, has your pup had all of her shots? If not you should be really careful exposing her to other dogs. If your puppy was sad or sore afterwards, they could have been too rough with her. I used to take my dog to petsmart for grooming and afterward she would come home a different pup. She was tired, sad, and wouldn't make eye contact with me. I took her back a second time and she was literally holding on for dear life when I tried to hand her over to them. You should listen to your pups. They know when they are being mistreated. I switched my pups to a new groomer and they are happy to go and happy when I pick them up. It is normal for pups to be tired afterwards but they shouldn't be sad and sore.

If your baby has not had all of his/her shots then it should not be going anywhere there are other dogs except the vet fort shots. If your baby cryed out when you picked it up,I would be searching every inch of my dog for a cut, including between pads on feet. If you baby seems still sad tomarrow you might go to the vet for a checkup to make sure that nothing was sprained or strained at the groomers. I have 4 dogs,3 require grooming I do it because truthfully I have read to many stories about peoples babys being hurt or getting a hair cut that they are very unhappy with. That is not to say that there isnt a good groomer out there Im just not willing to do the hunt with my babys coat or happiness.
