| Newbie here! Need suggestions and recommendations please :) Hi there, I'm Becky and a new yorkie owner in the UK. We have adopted a 3 year old yorkie cross and she's lovely! We have taken this girl on as her owner was getting evicted and she would have ended up in a rescue place. When we first brought her home she smelt SO BAD! I had to shampoo and rinse a few times and even then she still smelt! Her poor fur was all matted and long and had a yellow tinge at the ends (her fur is a light grey on her body). I can only assume it was nicotine stained? Anyway, I've managed to trim her body myself and she looks much better so far. She's settling in well with our family (14 month old baby and our labrador get on well with her). My only problem is the grooming side of things. She seems to always smell! I've groomed her "intimate" areas to avoid anything clinging on that might smell. Does anyone have any recommendations for grooming products that I can access in the UK? Is it normal for a yorkie to smell horrible so soon after a bath (next day)? How often should I wash her? Please note; She's a great dog but I know very little about yorkies. I'm also a student so have limited funds, hoping not to spend a fortune on products. |

| Hi and Welcome! Congrats on your new adopted baby! Have you taken her to the Vet for an exam? I would rule out any health issues first, then after that is ruled out you can concentrate on the grooming products... What part of her smells, and what does it smell like? I know females can get yeast infections.. they could also have ear infections- that can get pretty smelly.. she could have some dental issues.. lots of different things that could be the culprit.

| Her breath does smell pretty awful! She seems to smell more once she's been outside then it dies down but she aways has this just... dog smell lol. It's just a lot stronger than our lab! X

I agree If she hasn't been to see a vet I would have her checked out maybe her teeth are bad or ear infection.

| It doesn't really smell like an infection (I am a nurse though, not a vet lol). I will get her checked once I"ve sorted out some insurance, just in case! X
