Senior Yorkie Talker | Favorite/best shampoo? I bathe my pit bull using hartz shampoo, which I know is probably not a great shampoo. But since were getting a yorkie, I figured it'd be worth it to invest in a good shampoo, since they have longer coats and we plan on bathing him weekly. What do you reccomend?

| Full disclosure, I am a retailer of grooming products. I used Hartz when I first brought Max home, my first Yorkie. It made him smell like yucky, wet dog. Good products are worth the price. Each Yorkie coat is different and environmental factors can influence which product is best for your pup. My favorites for my boys: 1. Bio Groom Oatmeal shampoo followed by the awesome Bio Groom Silk Creme Rinse 2. Spa Lavish Facial Scrub for the head. It's easy on the eyes (tear free), but cleans thoroughly and rinses quickly and easily. 3. Isle of Dogs "Coature" line 4. Vellus products -- pricey, but fabulous 6. Les Poochs Hypoallergenic shampoo and conditioner -- also pricey, but can be diluted to make the bottles last. I like to put the conditioner on thick for my full coat guys. Probably not necessary for a puppy. Edit to add: Coat Handlers is also soap free and very gentle, loved by many Yorkie breeders and exhibitors

I think Petco may still sell Espree. The Espree shampoo is another good one.

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | Biogroom might be available in a large pet store. Ordering the other shampoos etc, are pretty easy on line.

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | We use Biogroom, and if you email the company they will send you some samples, the are concentrated so you'll need to add water to them. I've been really happy with Biogroom products. Bio-Groom - Exceptional Pet Care Products for Over 30 Years Kristan, I didn't know you sold Biogroom, lol, I just bought a gallon of the shampoo and cream rinse, everytime I buy something you start selling it!

I ♥ Joey & Ralphie! Donating Member | Well, I wouldn't have bought the gallons, if I had the choice, this will last me several years.

| I use Crown Royale on Lollie, my show girl. She has a floor length silky coat and it works great on her. I use Minksheen on my little Peppy. He is an older pet that I keep in a puppy cut. I absolutely love the Minksheen scent and it also helps to repel fleas. I have used Coat Handlers and like their line of products. We have horses and I use Mane & Tail shampoo and conditioner on them and also used it on our boxer. The conditioner is wonderful - I use it on my hair sometimes. I noticed that the shampoo was a bit drying, but it didn't bother Boo too much 'cause she didn't get baths very frequently. |

| I haven't tried a lot of shampoos yet so I wouldn't say I had a favorite. I just wanted to say if you call around to groomers in your area a some of them may carry some the shampoos people are talking about. Thats where we got our biogroom. |

| Wen, use it on everyone here, love it. I prefer tear free gentle baby shampoo for puppies. Remember yorkies have hair not fur. Yorkie splash and shine is also specially formulated for yorkies.

| I love Minksheen when I can afford it. It does smell super and makes their coat so soft.
