| Yorkie ears help My 5 month old yorkie's ears are standing every since he was tiny. Do I have to keep the ears trimmed or will they now remain up. I have been unable to get him to cooperate and hope I can stop trying to trim his ears. I got my Yorkie when he was 17 weeks old. Thanks for your knowledge and help. |

Max Main's Mamma Donating YT Member | My Yorkie, Max, had standing ears at about 4 months. While he was teething, one ear dropped a bit so we trimmed his ears and it went back up. All dogs are different so you never can tell. It sounds like you can take a break from trimming his ears for a while. I would love to see pistures

| Yes, trim the ears if you want them to stay up, otherwise they become to heavy and fall down, trim them now, cause about 4-5 months they wont go up if they aren't up in that time but doesn't hurt trying.

| I always trim about half way down the ears otherwise they get weighted.

| I would keep them well trimmed, a groomer can do it for a small fee while you wait.

| I would keep the top third of the ears trimmed as well. Yorkies look much neater that way. It may be due to teething that your babies ears are drooping down right now. This often happens when they're teething. |

2+2=4 X the Love ♥ Donating Member | Two of mine ears are up and stayed up, never had any issues. Ruby on the other hand has heavy weighted hair on her ears that needs to be trimmed every few months or they will start to droop. Its just part of her regular upkeep. Some times it depends on the amount of hair on them. Ears with thinner hair seems to stay up the ones with thicker hair tend to droop when grown out. Just keep an eye on them, if at 17 weeks and now at 5 months they are still up than my guess would be that their good.

| :( Twinkle's ears has been and always dropped down ever since I got her, I got her around 3 months. She's almost 5months old now and I just recently trimmed some the hair on her ears. It's just that I find yorkie cuter when their ears are up but I love Twinkle nonetheless ♥ Here's a pic of her ears slightly dropped Twinkle's slightly dropped down ears and this is her pic before I trimmed her hair Hairy Twinkle . P.S. sorry for the bad quality I used my BB to take a pic of her. xD |
