Need photos of the "Joey cut" please!
 
It's incredibly hot this summer and although I love Lulu having long hair, I think she would be more comfortable with a nice summer cut. I absoutely LOVE the Joey cut. So, I am asking for photos that I can print out and take to my groomer. I'm sure she's never done this cut before so I would like to show her several photos of different angles/positions. If anyone would share your photos I would greatly appreciate it. Please keep in mind I wish to print these out...:aimeeyork

Ha ha, I'm assuming you mean my little Joey, I wrote a thread about his new haircut. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/my-...ut-shaved.html. Basically, the body is shaved and the legs are left long, you can do the chest long or short. It's a great cut and works well on silky coated and cotton coated. Here's one of my favorite pictures, you can see the legs better, and his chest is short in this picture.

Yep! Your little one is the one I had in mind regarding this cut! Thanks for the photo!

Not quite but it's a variation on "the Joey". I leave his tail and face long, and his legs are in a "growing out" phase, Rizzo has really thin hair on his legs so I'm trying different lengths trying to find the right one for him.
I don't think there is a way to go wrong with this cut!
A tip, when determining where to stop the short portion on the legs, cut along the color line, i.e. where it goes from silver to tan. Just shave down the silver parts and leave the tan long.

I really do think that has got to be the cutest cut I have ever seen. I love it.

I leave Joey's hair long too, I just love the long hair on the tail, it looks like another topknot! Rizzo's tail is gorgeous!

Thanks! his tail is the most colorful part on him still :p black, tan, and silver. I can see the colors breaking though, so it won't be too long before it's all silver and gold.

I have Gidget in a version of the Joey (not quite shaved on body but close to it), but her legs do not quite look the same. How do you get that look on his legs?:confused:

His breeder does the cut and I really don't know how she does the legs. He has silky hair, and his leg hair looks fuller in that picture because he slept all the way home from the breeders and the hair got a little scrunched up in the car seat. Here's another picture where they don't look quite so full. I've been wondering if I should scrunch it when I blow it dry to make it look fuller because I love the look. Of course, cotton coated yorkies will have a much fuller leg look.

Either way, I really like the way the hair on his legs lays! I see what you mean about the fullness, though. I think maybe she lets his hair grow longer w less layers on his legs than I've been giving Gidget from the pics you posted. Thank you for the pics! :)

Yeah I don't think there are really any layers in his leg hair. When he got this cut his hair all reached the floor including his legs, so I’m assuming she mainly cut the body hair and just trims the legs. I know she spends a lot of time on the feet, they almost look like he's wearing suede boots, but as Deuce said, "There's no way to go wrong with this cut!"

I've looked at a lot of threads regarding this style cut; I just wanted to be sure I didn't print and use any photos that the owner may not want used...so I posted this thread to ask for photos that I would have permission to use. ;) I'm not one to just copy photos & use them without the owners permission.

Thank you all for sharing your photos & tips. I am extremely nervous about having her hair cut. Her hair is very long right now and almost floor length (with the exception of her rear leg that was shaved in Dec for her LP surgery...it's a bit shorter). And I am so worried that it won't turn out like I hope or that she won't look as cute as I have pictured...not that I will love her any less, of course! Guess I just need to relax & get it done. It's just hair!!:p

I know how you feel, I was scared to death. Joey's breeder had done this cut on several of her other dogs, and so I knew how it looked in person, but I just wasn't sure it would work on Joey. Hope she's all better from her LP surgery! One thing I noticed is that he seems so much smaller, and he wears 1 size smaller in clothes.

I'd be very surprised if my groomer has done this cut. That's why I'm gonna take several pictures. Lulu is recovering wonderfully from her surgery, thanks! And she's so small already I hope she doesn't look too tiny. She weighs about 3.8 lbs now. :)

Beemer has the "Joey" cut and he weighs about 3 1/2 pounds. I think it's adorable. They have such cute little bodies.

Beamer is so adorable!!!!! You're right this cut really shows off their sturdy little bodies, I love the way their bodies look so healthy.

Thanks Nancy!

One warning though. I almost dropped Beemer a couple of times right after he got his hair cut. I didn't realize that I used his hair to keep a grip on him but without it he almost wiggled out of my grasp a couple of times. We're used to it now though.:D

Adorable! I haven't seen a yorkie with this cut that isn't precious. I really hope Lulu's can turn out as good.

I use BlueSky Pet Spa in Madison. Janet Grey is the groomer. She's a master groomer and really, really good. We really are close!! Where do you go?

A lady just down the road from me...Happy Tails Grooming. I've only taken Lulu a few times though. I'm gonna have to check out your place. We go to Madison and Huntsville all the time.

OMGosh, Joey & Beemer look so darn adorable. As you can tell Zhoie was not gifted with much of a tail...but I would love it had she been. I love both their tails.
I never been able to quite pull the exact cut off with my limited talent, but I get as close as I can...:D.

I do love Zhoie's cut this way and thinking of keeping it even through the cold months. Jadabug's babies look adorable in it too. :)
