Just found Blue Sky Spa on facebook and looked at the photos. It looks like she does great work...and I saw your babies on there looking gorgeous. :D I'm seriously considering canceling my appointment & scheduling with Blue Sky. Do you know if there is a long wait time? I know one groomer here has about a 6 week wait for new appts. :eek:

I don't necessarily dislike my groomer. She is a great person & is very good with Lulu, but I don't think she's as experienced as other. I'm nervous enough about Lulu's haircut so I'm thinking if I go somewhere who has done the cut already, I might feel better about it.

I never been able to quite pull the exact cut off with my limited talent, but I get as close as I can...:D.

I do love Zhoie's cut this way and thinking of keeping it even through the cold months. Jadabug's babies look adorable in it too. :)
Thank you, Joey doesn't really have a tail, it's docked, but we've just let the hair grow on it. I was thinking about letting it grow for the winter too, but this haircut works so well under clothes, I changed my mind. Zhoie looks adorable in her dress in your avatar!

Well, she does such a wonderful job on Beemer, you wouldn't have to explain a thing. I think it might be easier for a groom to keep up with this cut, then actually do it the first time.

Thanks, I made that one the morning of July 4th...rush job.:)

I know it works so well with clothes and Zhoie cotton coat gets so tangled, I think we'll keep it for winter and just wear clothes everyday and nightie for bed.

Sorry - I was out to dinner. It doesn't take very long at all. I do know that they are going to be out of town Thursday and Friday of this week so they will be closed. I would call them tomorrow. Tell them Karen Fratesi sent you and you want a cut like Beemer. They are open on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I'll bet they could get her in early next week. I've been to other groomers but I'm really sold on Janet and Blue Sky. It's crazy that we're so close. Do you ever go to Rosie's? My husband is one of the owners. It would be fun to meet sometime!

My gosh - you do a fabulous job!!! Beemer has a soft coat too. It just got too hard to keep long. I still keep Sadie long but I've considered getting her cut too. It's my favorite "cut" look on any Yorkie. It's easy but still has a dramatic look. Plus, if you put clothes on them it still looks long. Zhoie is so pretty. She still looks like a girl with this cut. I've yet to see one that doesn't look good in this cut but Zhoie is one that would look beautiful in any cut she had!!

I will call today, thanks! Yes, we have been to Rosie's but it's been a long time since we've been because my husband doesn't really like Mexican food. :rolleyes:

Rosie's is pretty staple for us - could explain my weight gain since I met my husband! Fortunately (or unfortunately) I love Mexican food.

I hope you like Blue Sky as much as I do. The do groom a lot of Yorkies. Let me know what they say and how it goes!

You have a Mexican restaurant in Alabama? We lived in Montgomery for a few months while my husband went to a military school there. I was looking so hard for tortillas and finally found some at a Piggly Wiggly (such a funny name for a store). When I got home and opened the box, it was filled with roaches! I assumed Mexican food hadn’t reached Montgomery yet. I love Mexican food, but they need to come out with a skinny Mexican cookbook!

Yep - it's really good too! They have three "big" Rosie's and a drive through/counter service "Little Rosie's" that are all Tex Mex - very much like you would see in Dallas. They also have Phil Sandoval's that is more traditional Mexican and they are about to open a drive through BBQ. They are all really popular here - consistently voted best Mexican. I pretty much modify everything I order to make it lighter. They do have baked chips available and are willing to do things like steam veggies for fajita's instead of saute' them. I've bugged my dh to add a light menu forever but I've never gotten anywhere.

By the way - we also have Mexican markets and groceries here. I don't know for how long though. Alabama recently passed an "Arizona type" immigration law. I'm not sure how it's going to affect things.

Yep, Rosie's is so so good! I wish my husband liked Mexican as much as I do. I'm gonna have to beg him to take me there on our next "date night". ;) Nancy, we have a local Piggly Wiggly! It's know as "the Pig" around here. :D You know you are southern when you grocery shop at "the Pig". LOL!

Karen, I called Blue Sky and had to leave a message. I told them you referred me. :thumbup: I hope to hear back today.

Yeah, I guess the light menus are more popular in some places than others, but do you really save that many calories steaming? Let's not go overboard. :D


I was in Alabama sometime in the 70's, I believe around 76. Being from Indiana, I had not even had Mexican food until we moved to Texas, and we had been stationed in Texas and California, so we really became addicted to Mexican food. So it was a while back. :p

They have a pretty good ribeye and also on the weekends they have great ribs - so maybe you can find a non-mexican alternative for him!!:D

Blue Sky is pretty good about calling back. It might be late this afternoon or even this evening though. They are probably busy with the dogs.

A pretty long time ago I lived near a Piggly Wiggly here. They used to let me just sign my ticket and bring the money the next time. You don't see anything like that anymore!!!
