OMGsh!!! I am so stupid! What is the point in me having a gut instinct if I'm not going to follow it? I'm so worried about how I'll make other people feel & now I'm the one holding back tears!:(

I have been grooming Princess myself for a while now, since I heard a dog yip at her groomers & quit going. Well she really needed her nails trimmed & I'd need a 5 point restraint system to do them myself. So I decided to get a full cut as well to start her off fresh for the summer. I am very impulsive & impatient & no one could get me in today. So I called the old groomer, justifying the dog yipping as it being scared or something.

I called at 10:30 she said she could get her in if I came right then as she closed at 12:00. I get there & say specifically "I want it different than you've done it before." I hold Princess & point & say in very clear English: I want her body very short, her legs trimmed but not short like usual. I asked her about growing her ear hair to fan out to the sides. She tells me Princess doesn't have the hair to do that. (can anyone verify that?) So I point to her ears & say I want this off (the sides, like this... ^ ) I say that is all I want off her whole head. leave her beard, topknot area & hair in front of the ears. I want sanitary, belly & nails-that is it!!!

11:45 rolls around & I don't hear so I thought maybe a miscommunication & went to pick her up. It's not a long ride, 5.5 miles round trip. I go in & they're blow drying so they don't hear me enter. I hear a dog yip once, then I'm really listening because I really swear if that was Princess I'd gladly adorn some silver bracelets! Then another yip, it's not her. The phone rings & the daughter/assistant comes out & sees me, I tell her I'm there to pick up. She says "oh, she hasn't been done yet". "I thought you closed at 12". "we're running behind, she'll be ready around 1:30".:thumbdown If I had any damn sense I would've took Princess & been better off watching her get groomed at Petco! I fume out, come all the way home.

I go back, pay, then she gets Princess. Oh My Gosh!!! Are you freaking kidding me??!? Her ear hair is still there, her ENTIRE beard is gone, it looks like she doesn't have a jaw! They cut those little hairs by her eyes that we JUST got grown out where they didn't poke her eyes.:mad::mad::mad: It's choppy, it's ugly! Princess is beautiful to me, always, but what they did is not. I could have done so much better. I just don't like to do her belly, hygiene & nails. Why was I so stupid!? I am so mad at myself I could just scream!

Then to top it off Princess does not want to be bothered with me at all! Maybe, I hope, she's just mad that I took her. She's always all over me after 5 min. apart, now NOTHING. What did they do to her?

I'm calling on Monday demanding a refund & putting reviews:thumbdown on every website I can find.:mad:

I am so sorry you had a bad experience. I understand and I would be upset too. She did not follow your instructions. That is one thing that would upset me. The other thing is how long it took. They should have told you that it would take that long. The good news is that the beard will grow back out. And your baby is still gorgeous. :) As far as if they did something to her, I would go to the groomer and ask for an explanation. Maybe your baby will be back to herself quickly. Do you think she is upset because of going to the groomer when she is used to you doing it? Just a thought.

She could be upset about going because she does hate the groomers, vet, even the pet store though I still take her to try to relax her. But usually by the time we get home she's fine. I even offered her these new liver treats I just got her yesterday & she loved...they're still on the floor. Thanks for the compliment.:)

Oh no! So many groomers just don't seem to listen to what the client does & doesn't want done. It scares the heck outta me, which is why I've always groomed myself.

I know hair does grow back, but it takes seems to take such a long time while your waiting for it to happen. You're fortunate Princess is a lil cutie. She's got an adorable face no matter how much hair is on it :).

Yes, she is definitely a cutie! I know it was a shock to have her beard cut off...can't imagine what possessed them to do that:rolleyes: I can only think that they must have screwed the face up and had to chop it off. She's probably upset over the whole experience.

I'm so shocked, I can't believe how short they cut her face; this person has had no training what-so-ever to do this! You learned a valuable of lesson, trust your gut from now on. Does this groomer think all small dogs are Chihuahuas? Princess is adorable no matter what, but I don't blame you for being furious. From now on, perhaps you should take a picture of what you want, if you ever have the courage to go to another groomer. I think she'll look a lot better if you can at least tip her ears.

Oh honey I am so sorry for what that groomer put you and Princess through:( I know you have heard it before that it is only hair and it will grow back (and it will) But, I have been in your shoes and it doesn't make you feel any less mad or upset. It galls me that we take our babies to a groomer and tell them to a "T" what we want and they don't listen. I know there are good groomers out there, but they are almost impossible to find. The last time I took mine to a groomer, she not only didn't do their cuts like I wanted but they acted strange for almost 2 days. I never took them back and do it myself now. One of the girls I work with used the same groomer for her pom and took him in about 3 months ago, got the call he was almost ready and she was close to the ladies shop when she got their to pick him up. The groomer wasn't expecting her that early and didn't see her come in. She heard the groomer talking really hateful to her baby and he is a very sensitive little pom and she had shaved him almost to the skin and gapped him up. Needless to say she is learning to groom her dog now herself and will never take him back. What makes it bad is that this groomer is one of our customers at the bank and we have to deal with her weekly:(
Go with your gut feelings as they usually are right and I am so sorry about what happened to Princess and I hope she gets back to her normal happy self soon.

The Good thing is it will grow back, and she is Still a Cutie!! I would definitely demand a refund and would never take her back there, again, if not for that, than for the fact that you heard 2 yips from another dog.

I was thinking, again, today, that maybe i would find someone to take Riley to for a groom, but nevermind. I will continue reading my grooming books and researching so I can do it, myself.

She's probably just mad from the whole experience, and for how Long she had to be there.

I agree! this groomer has no idea what a yorkie grooming is supposed to look like. The ears OMG, they did the opposite of tipping, they cut the sides and left the top! I would be so furious as well. I have a theory that all groomers hate yorkies and they purposely do a bad job. :rolleyes:

Princess is still a cutie, but her jaw is non existent. :(

Poor Princess! I agree with Nancy and Priscilla, she is still a cutie but what the groomer did to her chin is inexcusable. :(

I'm sorry JK. The hair will grow back. Keep telling Princess she is beautiful and her hair will return.

Princess has licked herself a few times so I just looked and her vulva is cut!!!! OMG! I am LIVID! LIVID! I can't imagine how much that must have hurt & how much it's going to hurt when she pees.

Can someone please advise me, should I put triple antibiotic ointment on it or vaseline, bag balm, anything? Wont it get infected with all of the bacteria that's in urine?

OMG! It just gets worse. I wouldn't wanna be your groomer come Monday morning!

Urine is sterile when it comes out. Bacteria grow when it's exposed to air. I could gently clean her with just water, pat dry & apply antibiotic cream. Do you have a onesie you could put on her to stop her licking?

Ok, now it is time to get really mad! :mad: How terrible for them not to tell you. You have a right to be livid! Poor baby!

I have a onesie but she's pad trained so she'd probably sneak away & pee in it. She's not licking it excessively, it's just that she never, ever licks it unless something's wrong. I'm just trying to keep her busy & smother her with treats, lol, as I feel more guilty than ever! She still wont come to me to snuggle, I guess she's pretty peeved as well.

I feel you. Against my better judgement, I had Kaji groomed at the boutique I buy his food last week. Horrible cut, and this past Wednesday I rubbed coconut oil on Kaji's belly to help with the itchies from having his belly shaved. :rolleyes:
Do you have the kiss e cone? Or any cone to keep her from licking herself. You don't want her to irritate it further.
