| ![]() What shampoo and conditioner & brush do you use for your Biewer's stringy, cottony, hard to maintain, matts easily coat???? ![]() ![]() Right now I am using the light blue Madan brush which helps with does take out mats, but gosh, Reesie's hair is getting hard to upkeep. I have trimmed his hair but he is such a spaz, it's hard. I know I should prob get him groomed, but I want to try myself. I groom my Snickers myself but let's face it, he is calm ![]() I have tried Buddy Wash & Rinse with minimal success as well as Yorkie Splash & Shine. I've been hearing a ton about PEK, but my DH will go bananas if I spend $75 on grooming products!!! Yikes!!! THANKS- Viv

| ![]() Cooper is a Yorkie/Maltese mix with an extremely difficult cottony coat. He's getting his haircut as we speak. I too have the light blue Madan, but I also bought small pin brush which has a medium/soft cushion. It was a huge difference in brushing Cooper as the light blue brush didn't seem to work anymore. It got through his hair just fine, but wasn't brushing him out well. Also the small brush is a bit smaller and easier to manage. I recommend Jenny at toplinepet.com I used Yorkie Splash & Shine, which I like but I recently tried using BioGroom shampoo and conditioner. I am amazed at how beautiful his coat is and it's really inexpensive. ![]()

| ![]() My Azrael has "the" thickest cotton coat of all! She has enough of this cotton mess to cover a dozen dogs. I have tried more shampoos and conditioner's than I even care to think about (not to mention the kings ransom I've paid out in these products) and can save you time and money right now by just letting you know what you can do to help with this problem. Buy a pair of thinning shears and a slicker. Thin out the thick cotton coat, and make sure you use a conditioner after you shampoo. Doesn't matter what kind of dog shampoo OR conditioner you use either. If the shampoo makes a lot of suds, then I would thin it down with water. I use #1 Systems super rich cleaning and conditioning shampoo and Super rich Protein Conditioner. They are VERY concentrated and last a very long time. I buy by the gallon since it's a lot less expensive that way. I also add Vegetable Glycerine to the conditioner. During the dry winter months they get a hot oil treatment before their bath and I use a humidifier to keep the house at 50 to 55%. (( Helps with my skin and hair as well)). There is no real "quick" cure for a cotton coat, but it is if you do the little extra. ![]()

| ![]() I'm nervous to use thinning shears...how do I use them?? Also, with a slicker, does it really help with mats?? Any particularly good brand of slicker?? Appreciate all the tips!!! Viv

Donating YT 10K Club Member | ![]() Unfortunately there is not a product on the market which will change a dog's coat. I own four biewers. One is a walking mat ball and after spending hours (literally) every night brushing him out...I cut him in a puppy cut. It is so much easier

PetEdge also has it but their shipping and handeling carges are steep. Just google in #1 All Systems and it will give you many places to buy and you can choose the best prices but be sure to take notice of the shipping charges. ![]()

| ![]() Yep! Puppy cut for Dori. Madden black brush and Biogroom shampoo with splash & shine spray. She wears a halter, so gets easily matted. We brush everynight before crate time where she sleeps "naked" to give her fur a rest.
