| need help This is not about Gypsy, but about my lh chi, Harley. Hope someone will help me anyway. We got Harly in Jan. He is 15 months old. He is white, black and brown. Problem: His white hair on his behind and tail. Apparently the previous owners smoked and his tail esp is yellowish. We just bathed him for the first time and some of it came out and close to the skin it is white. Not all of it came out. What can be done to get it all out? His fur on his neck is so white it looks like fresh snow. Hubby suggests trying to clean him in Dawn. Not only did he need a bath (may have been first bath ever) but he gets neutered this wed. so wanted him as fresh as possible. Any suggestions? Thanks.

| Some of it def came out. Just would not like to put him through so many baths if I can help it. May take to groomers as it is hard for me to bathe them due to health. It is lighter in color so you can already see a difference. now it seems to be in patches not all over.

| Maybe you could try a clarifying or baby shampoo, if you don't have any maybe some vinegar, he just might not like the smell. Good luck! |

| Did you try a 'whitening' shampoo (made for white dogs)?

| That had to be horrible for that baby to be around that much smoke that it 'discolored' his coat?!?!?! My hubby and mother are both smokers, but NEVER in the house and NEVER in the car and not around my babies!!!!!

| Jim thinks it is either nicotine or where he was in pee. He is def not trained. We are working on that. Jim (hubby) grew up in a single wide trailer where both parents smoked a lot, one after the other. And his dad's were handrolled, so not filtered. He thinks it is nicotine and he is quite used to the look of nicotine. He does not seem to have been taken care of much. He loves to be petted and if one of the other dogs gets to playing rough, he acts as if he will be yelled at if he plays rough back. Vet sd he is in good health except for an undescended testicle. I am so glad we got him. I wonder just how much atttention he got. The woman we got him from sd thier other dog, a doxi, (her hubby's) dog so wanted him to go to another home and listed on craig's list for 20.00. I am going to try the whitening shampoo. He is the sweetest thing!
