Poppy's Mamma ♥ Donating Member | ![]() Hi I was wondering if you could give me some advice on my pups nails. She is 8 weeks old and they are really sharp, I am covered in scratches off her. How young is too young to get them clipped? I know they will be worn down once she starts going outside for walks but this is not for a while yet as she is only having her first needle tomorrow. Also when I first got her I noticed she was shaking her head and scratching her ears a lot, the vet said they were waxy so I got some cleaning drops and have used them twice and cleaned the dark wax that comes out with a ball of damp cotten wool. That was a week ago and she dosnt seem to be shaking her head as much and her ears look cleaner but I was wondering how often I should do it? Thanks ![]()

You're pup shaking it's head and you obtaining dark wax could be the sign of an ear infection. Cleaning ears with a good cleaner with a drying agent should be done with every bath. The last thing you do before drying.

| ![]() I file Wolfie's with one of the really abrasive emory boards made for acrylic nails, as I do for my pom. He fought me at first but finally realized he wasn't gonna win : ) He now lays nicely on his back in my lap at bedtime to be combed and his nails filed. I do a bit each day to help desensitize him. Good luck! |
