| Grooming School A friend told me about a dog grooming school and said they do great on her maltese. The price is half the price at other places. Would you trust them if they don't have the experience?

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | I went to grooming school and we had the same offer there. If a student grooms your dog you get a cheaper price. At my school we had instructors circling us to watch us groom and make sure we handled the dog the right away. students are never left alone. While i was there none of the dogs ever got hurt and i'd say mostly every dog had a decent hair cut. You just have to remember that it is a student grooming your dog and it probably won't come out perfect, there might be little things here and there that stick out.

| I think if you are not super picky about your dogs cut and you want to save a few pennies and help someone that needs training its a win-win. Of course if your super picky or your dog is not well behaved it wont serve anyone anything positive. Would I take my own little guy to a school if there was one close by, you bet. If I save half that means more toys or a new outfit, blanket. Ya see where I'm going? Worse case is your dog gets a bad cut and you go back to your reg. groomer next time. |

| I would take my furbaby to a school. Save money and extra attention I'd say thats a deal. Hair grows back don't worry.

| Safety is my number one priority when my dogs get groomed and I would think at a grooming school this would be their top concern as well... the cut may have issues but its just hair, it grows back! If its terrible, dont go again!

| So I went to the school and the cut wasn't what I wanted, but overall it looks ok. I didn't have my hopes up because I knew it was a school. So I would go again, but I will be more specific next time about the cut I want. They do all kinds of fun stuff like mohawks and color and shaved shapes.
