| Alternative to MinkSheen...... I have been using Mink Sheen on Roxy since she was a pup but I can't stand the smell!! For the day I use it and the day after I smell the stuff! I don't think it makes her coat shiny either. What are some good alternatives for a shampoo and conditioner? I want something that smells great, works well, and leaves her hair soft, shiny, and silky. Thanks Guys!!

| Yes, she is on Advantage. I was noticing that the insect repellant in the Mink Sheen didn't do anything for these stubborn Florida fleas. I am surrounded by neighbord and dogs so it is a giveaway that we have them in the yard....errg I cant stand those little critters (the fleas not the dogs lol)!!

| Minksheen is not suppose to replace a flea/tick repellant, it only enhances it. You might like to try, Harry Barker's shampoo with Shea Butter, an addded conditioner is needed as well or Buddy Wash. It's a great shampoo. Minksheen is our favorite, however, I use an additonal conditioner as well leaving Bud's coat soft and shinny as glass. |

| You might try Pet Silk shampoo & conditioner. My favorite scent is Rain forest, and it is sooooo nice I can't stop sniffing them. I want to see if they have a similar perfume I can use on them in between baths. Is Roxy's coat silky or cottony? That should also be considered in picking the grooming products. I've been using Minksheen and love it to make their hair silky, however I also use Pet Silk conditioner after to give them the yummy smell. But, I'm also wanting to experiment with different shampoos too, to get the best silky shine.

| We use Biogroom Oatmeal shampoo and Biogroom Silk Creme Rinse conditioner, available at Petsmart. Biogroom makes my boys' hair super shiny, soft, and manageable. I didn't like the scent initially, but it has grown on me. |

| Her hair is silky, however it is a little on the dry side . I might try using an additional conditioner after washing her......anything to get rid of that horrible smell!

| I hated the smell of minksheen as well. For Uni who has silky hair i use biogroom oatmeal, just like maximo does. I used yorkie splash and yorkie shine for katie who has a cotton coat, and it make her hair sooooooo soft! It actually made her feel like a silky coat! It's gone on 2 weeks and i think I will give her another bath tonight.

I just got the Nature's Specialties Hypo "Aloe" Genic Shampoo and the Re-Moisturizer with Aloe to try for sensitive skin. You can use the Re-Moisturizer w/Aloe as a Hot Oil Treatment by putting in on and covering your pup with a warmed damp towel for 10 minutes. It seemed to help Daisy's itching for a couple of days even though I didn't realize when I bathed her that her severe itching was from an allergy to chicken. Now that she isn't itching from the food allergy anymore I am going to give it another try to moisturize her skin and hair. She has dry cottony hair. Last year when I used MinkSheen I hated the smell too but I just gave Daisy a bath in it (diluted approx 4 to 1) and for some reason I didn't mind the smell at all this time. Go figure. lol I am usually searching for moisturizing shampoos and/or flea repellant shampoos. I am always on the hunt for something better. lol I love to hear about everyone's experiences with different products. I am really thinking about trying the Biogroom products now after reading this. I am looking for that shine for the cotton coat.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I love Nootie. The Sweet Pea fragrance is my favorite. I have it available for sale if you are interested. I also have trial 4 oz sizes of the shampoo. It is soap free so it is safe to use with flea treatments. |

| The first time I used the Mink Sheen I used it full strength and the smell was so overpowering that when we went to bed Daisy seemed to be having problems with the fumes from it. I called the company the next day and they said there are no dangerous fumes from the shampoo and told me that I should dilute it. On the bottle it says you can dilute if from 4:1 to to 10:1. I wanted to get the max flea protection so I used 4:1. I don't know if that dilutes the flea protection or not. Some people use it full strength too.
