I see a pattern w/ you. It's getting out of control but nobody will help b/c everyone is an enabler. So now you'll buy two boar brushes. One comb isn't enough so you must have a brush or something. Anything, right?

LOL! Yes, can you point me to the section for product addicts? I blame my problem on all the pretty pictures.

I'm saving on shipping. Only 1 boar bristle brush, unless I go nuts and buy the Mason Pearson someday in the future. What do think Elle -- soft, medium, or hard bristle?

I've got the Iv St Bernard products on my list - belly bands, alaskan booties, and now Isnis and madan.. to decide between.

In terms of brushes I only need 1 well maybe two teeny weeny brushes for the Razz's muzzle and maybe to smooth out front of top knot.
I'd like to put product on one but not the other... That reminds how are you guys cleaning your brushes? What solution do you use?

Of course I remove any hair left in the brush after each use. About once a month, I use a cloth wet with a disinfecting cleaner like Lysol and wipe over the brush, in between the pins, over the cushion. After that, I give them a quick rinse, trying not to soak the cushion with a lot of water. I dry them with a blow dryer and store them with the handles down. W/handles down if there is any water left (in my case there isn't water leftover), gravity will take it away from the cushion and pins.

I've read to soak them in a disinfecting solution to clean. But w/wood handles on most of my brushes and also not wanting to completely soak the cushions, I found it better to wipe them down with the cloth.

Also, for my foster/rescues I use different brushes than I do for the others. Not knowing for certain about skin issues they could have, I prefer they have their own set of brushes. And, I clean them after each bath.

What is different about Alaskan booties?

Mason Pearson is a human brush. There are two types people use. One is pure boar, the other is the combo. This bristle is the actual hair of a boar (hog). Boar bristles are considered ideal because they close the cuticle layer the outside armor of your hair and create shiny hair. Because boar bristles tend to be weak, manufacturers usually mix them with nylon bristles, so they don't collapse while you're brushing through the hair.



Boar bristles are natural, soft, flexible bristles that gently brush the hair and are suitable for use on children. Manufacturers often combine boar with nylon bristles to create a stronger styling ability.



Nobody is ever satisfied w/ what they have. Always looking for something to make it better.

Clean with shampoo and warm water.

This is how I clean my Madans. I remove all excess hair w/the wide side of a comb. Since it's made out of ABS plastic, I just soak it in lukewarm water w/Baby Shampoo. With a mascara wand, I gently go in between the pins & scrub any remaining fuzz. It has 2 holes on the cushion, so I press the remaining water out after a good rinse, & lay it facedown (pins facing down) on a towel to dry.

Any brush w/wooden handles can also be washed using a toothbrush or mascara wand dipped in shampoo/warm water. Then just rinse the head w/out immersing the whole brush in the water.

Thank you, Jenny! I never knew how to clean them. I was always afraid of the air holes filling up with water.
