Top knot flops forward

I have braided Maggies topknot hair but did not make it into a topknot. Her pictures are adorable. I'm going to have to try some of these.

And Max is adorable any which hairstyle he's sporting for the day.

I want to try this too. I've been letting Tiki's hair grow out long, and she has been tolerating bands and bows much better the last few months. The braiding is cool.

I've never cut Maggies topknow hair so it's pretty long. She was being a little fussy today so by the time I got done, it was looking like that palm tree thing. lol

Normally she is so good about doing her hair. She's so funny, she will wait for me to put her hair up before she eats.

Russian Yorkie has some very beautiful babies that he/she works on. I am very impressed at the skill. I just wish my Elsa had hair like that so I could do some of the styles on her.

Aww, thank you. My topknot skills have not improved much over the past year. This year I am determined to buy real bows and try to make real topknots for a photo or two.

Russian Yorkie does do gorgeous work. Wish we had heard more from her after she posted those photographs.

I forgot to add earlier that when Max was battling a corneal ulcer, I was reluctant to use any hair products on his head. To keep the stray hairs out of his eyes, I put his topknot hair up in "pigtails" with little scrunchies. Surprisingly, it didn't look too feminine for a boy. In fact, the vet and everyone at the vet's office complimented the hair style.

Every once in awhile, I give him pigtails.

I used to put piggys in Maggie's hair also. I'll need to do that again...her hair is just soooo long and I know it would probably look dorky or weird.

Pigtails sound fun, do you have any pictures? Do you position them spread apart, like toward their ears or more in the center?

I tried a braid on Tiki and it's kinda cute, though nothing like Russian Yorkie did. It has been in about 3 days, so I'd better take it out and start over.

You can see my solution in my avatar. I put several tiny red claw clips in Gracie's hair. Poor thing...her top knot always flops forward and the hair on her cheeks always sticks up so you can't see her eyes half of the time. Of course it doesn't help one bit that her big sis always licks her face and makes a complete mess out of her.

Those are gr8 ideas; one I want to try one day is the french braiding....goto learn how to do it first though

1. gather the hair for the top knot
2. divide the hair in two, one in front & one in back
3. put band on the divided section of hair in back
4. put banded hair & unbanded hair in front together
5. band together

Banding this way keeps the hair from flopping this way & that & it stays put. If you have a rat tail comb, you can also pull out the hairs in the front of the head to make it look poofy.

That's what I have to do with Azraels hair. It works perfectly!!

For pigtails on Max, I centered them like Maltese show bows. I'll do it again in the next week or two and post a picture. You will have to share pics of Tiki with a braid. Sounds nice.

Ok, I'm still practicing and will take pics as soon as I "get it". I'm just excited that Tiki is tolerating this and not trying to rip it out. I am enjoying her long silky hair lately, but she doesn't seem like a *top knot* kind of girl. She also has bangs cut, which I like to frame her eyes.

My other 3 girls have shorter hair on head.

I love all the pony ideas....we are going to experiment this weekend because Teddi always has the one that falls forward. I've been braiding it lately so it doesn't get full of food. I am going to try some of these ideas after her bath tomorrow.
