| Untraditional Yorkies? Anyone ever put their yorkie in an unusual/non-traditional clip? As a Pet Stylist I love it when Pet Parents mix it up a bit and think outside the yorkie box. The nice thing about hair is it grows back. So next time you get your baby groomed, think about having some fun with it. When I’ve styled a yorkie in a non-traditional clip, like a terrier or schnauzer clip, that little doggie gets so much attention! Lets face it, Yorkies are just so darn cute anyway, add a hip clip and look out! In over 30 years of grooming I’ve really had some fun. I’ve styled doggies with boots, Mohawks (on just the head and also all the way down the back), Fu Manchu beards, and even pants with a jacket. Have fun with it, create your own style. Yorkie hair is silky and fine in texture which makes it some what of a challenge for us groomers, but there are special pet styling products like mousse, gel and hairspray. If your pet stylist is like me, she or he will jump at the chance to do a custom clip on your baby. The best part, if you change your mind, and want to go back or even change it up again. You can, because hair grows back. |

| I clip my own dogs, but when I cut Azrael's body short, leaving everything else long, I had some man come out on his porch when we walked by asking what kind of dog was she and I told him a Yorkie, but he said "I think you have a Schnauzer". When we finished at the dog meet up and I walked back past his house, he came out yelling "Schnauzer, Schnauzer, schnauzer". What an idiot!!! Here was what she looked like:
