| I'm new to Yorkie talk!! I need advice!! Hello! I'm new to Yorkie talk! I do have a few questions about my yorkie Bella. I can give her a bath & the next day she has a not a good smell. It's not just a dog smell it's smells very strong yuck smell. She is 10 months old female yorkie. Can somebody recommend a good shampoo for her that is good for her coat? Is there something I can buy to spray on her in between her baths to help her coat & the smell? She is trained to go on the puppy pad but I need to train her to go outside. Any advice would be helpful to me on how to train her to go potty outside now. She is the best loving dog & very smart!! I have had people tell me what is that smell. They say it's bella. I can even smell the smell on Bella. I want Bella to smell good she loves to cuddle and lay right beside me on the sofa. I don't have any ideas as what the smell is or why she smells bad. Any information would be appreciated. I just love Yorkies!!! Thank You!! I hope to chat & make new friend's with other yorkie owners!! HUGS!!! |

| Welcome to Yorkie Talk. You posted this in the breeding section, you will get a lot more advise if you post in the grooming section. It is not normal for a dog to stink a day after having a bath. What kind of dog food are you feeding her? The type of diet she is on can effect how she smells. She needs a good quality dog food. I recommend Canidae, Solid Gold, Natural Balance or Chicken Soup. There are other good dog foods available also. As for shampoo, my two favorites are Coat Handler or All-Systems but there are many other good shampoos. Most of the really good ones you have to order, they are not available at pet stores. She could also have some type of skin bacteria that is causing the problem and you might need a special shampoo from the vet. It might be a good idea to get her checked out. |

| My 3 lb. Yorkie was smelling the for awhile. She had a doctor's appointment and I mentioned it to the vet. She cleaned out her anal glands and it took care of the smell. Welcome to YT. ~Joanne~

1. the diet is a big factor what are you feeding? Sometimes some foods make them produce more eye gunk than others and, the eye gunk smells bad! 2. the shampoo I use is Minksheen. I didn't like Biogroom I felt the smell didn't stayed long enough. Plus Biogroom smells like dog shampoo, Minksheen smells like parfum. MD sell minksheen or you can go to their website directly. There is no need to use conditioner when you use minksheen. 3. what about dental hygiene. is she good in that aspect? good luck
