| Grooming at home.... Friends and relatives keep asking me to groom their furbabies because they like how I groom my mine. I'm going to start grooming from home (only yorkies and maybe small breeds). Just my furbabies, friends & relatives furbabies and pups that have gone to forever homes. I already have The Wahl Deluxe Pet Clipper Kit - it includes clippers, scissors attachment combs 1/8,1/4,3/8 & 1/2 I know I need Grooming Table and hair dryer Shampoo, conditioners & detanglers or mist sprays What do I use for ears and sanitary area? I'm currently using men's moustache trimmer but that doesn't work very well for ears. I'm in california and grooming is expensive out here. The groomers in my area charge $65 for grooming. I'm going to give option of bringing to my home or driving to their home. How much should I charge? Any tips appreciated - Thanks

good luck. professional groomers have more tools under their belt then a whal pet kit that you can buy at petco. do you have more then one blade for your clipper? you should always have at least two of each size because they get hot and can burn the dog. you also need different size blades for different areas (ears, pads, sanitary, etc). A nice sharp pair of shears and thinners are also great tools that every groomer uses. you'll also need nail clippers, ear cleaner, hemostats, quick stop, ear powder, clipper cooler, clipper disinfectant, table, table noose, a few shampoos + conditioners, a good dryer, plus other things i'm surely forgetting. PetEdge.com Wholesale prices on exclusive dog grooming and pet supplies has many of these things. also, if your going to be clipping others peoples pets you should get insurance just in case something happens.

| What part of California are you from? 65 is a lot... that should be the price of mobile grooming. BTW: If you are considering buying a professional dryer, I have one that was only used twice that I'm selling. It's a great dryer, but I bought another one that cost me 400. Also, my roomies are complaining about me grooming at home, so that's why I'm selling it.

| Do you have a grooming license? It's a requirement in NY because my daughter was a groomer for a short time. Also, if not, I would worry about the liability part of grooming. Better safe than sorry. I have been asked, by a couple of neighbor's, if I would groom their dogs because they like how I groom my own. I thanked them and politely said no. One nick and I could see me being dragged to court! Good luck, |

| I'm like one to two cities away from you. Where do you know that charges 65? That's pretty high. I'm a professional groomer and I only charge 30 to 35 for Yorkies. Oh, I just remembered, you were the one interested in the Hacienda grooming school. Have they ever contacted you about taking my place? I haven't heard a word from them.

| I live out in the Santa Clarita Valley and probably one of the least expensive. I charge $35.00 for grooming. Provide a massage, teeth brushing, ear canal cleaning, anal glands expressed, massage, shampoo, conditioner with a warm towel, Brushed out layer by layer as they are blow dryed in my arms. Cut and style, nails clipped
