What do I use to cut my puppy's nails? - YorkieTalk.com Forums

Bailey is over 3 months now and his nails need to be trimmed. I have no problem doing it, I do my bf's dogs and use to do my cats as well. I just don't know what to use, isn't a reg nail cutter to large for a puppy?

Different people use different things. Some use the regular nail clippers for dogs....I use the kind that look like they have scissor handles. (I don't know what they're called

) Others use regular people nail clippers, and some use a dremel (sp?).

The first time I cut Gizmo's nails, I took him to the vet and the vet assistant showed me how to do it. I worried because the nail is black and you can't see where the quick starts. Once, I had that figured out, it was better.

I use the pedipaws on all of mine. It took some time to get them used to it but i have no problems with it now. I was always too scared to clip them and had a groomer do it.
