| Tearless Shampoo... Hey! For as long as I can remember since Zoë came home with us she's always had an itchy face. As far as I can tell she doesn't have allergies to anything we give her (food, treats, etc). To be honest, she will itch/scratch other areas of her body, but at least 90% of all of her itching/scratching is to her head! At first it was annoying because she'd mess up the top knots I'd put in her hair. Now, since she's almost one and has been doing this for most of her life, I'm thinking what can be done about it. Other than switching foods, do you think changing shampoos, especially to a tearless shampoo might fix this? Currently I use Buddy Wash/Rinse on her, it smells good and so far hasn't dried out her skin. However since it's not tearless I use No More Tears on her face (I know it's a baby shampoo but at the time I purchased it I didn't realize they made dog shampoos tearless. And I didn't even contemplate that it could be the culprit until a few days ago. ) I'm afraid to invest in more shampoo, especially if I wind up getting the entire set of whatever I may change her to, if that won't help either. I keep passing the Pet Head products whenever I go to PetCo (of course I just bought new bottles of the Buddy Wash/Rinse) and see they have a tearless shampoo that smells nice. But besides seeing the somewhat large price tag (I think it's something around $18-$19 each) and sniffing it to see that it smells good, I know nothing about it or if it'd help Zoë's itchy head issues. Anyone have any thoughts on Zoë's issue or my idea of it being the shampoo? Any reviews on shampoos that may help? Tips, Suggestions, Anything? Thanks ahead of time!

| Hm, not sure, I wish I could help more. I use Buddy Wash for Jackson w/ no problems... if you don't want to buy a whole bottle, most places will send you samples of shampoos for free. BioGroom sent me four bottles, Halo sent me one little trial bottle, MinkSheen will send you one with a shipping fee of $3, I think. Saves a ton of money!

| The pH of human shampoos isn't right for dogs. Baby shampoo especially is very harsh and can dry their coat out. That might be the cause of her itching, although it could also be environmental/inhalant allergies which are more common than food allergies. A groomer recommended Absolutely Natural shampoo to be years ago and that's all I use on Lady's face. I wash her face almost daily since she has dry eye and have never had any problems with it drying her coat. Animal Friends Manufacturing Shampoo |

| Thanks ladies for the input! I'm now determined to switch her to something that hopefully won't irritate her face. Then if she still scratches I'll have to figure it out again. Anyway, now I guess I just have to decide: do I get a tearless shampoo just to use for her face and continue with the buddy wash/rinse or do I totally switch and use the tearless shampoo for her entire body (and possibly get their matching conditioner, since every line seems to carry the partner products)?

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | When i groom i use South Barks blueberry facial scrub all over the head, especially in the tear stain area. Its tearless, smells great, and helps to get rid of stains.

| Thanks again ladies! Jess, Marjorie, and Kellie you ladies are awesome! Okay, now I guess I need to decide! Oh man, this'll be hard, especially since I'm always indecisive! I guess the first thing is to see where all of them are sold (online if not in a store near me I hope) to explore my options....
