Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Petco Groomer I just got back from Petco and didn't buy a thing. I went because I had a 10% off coupon and they had a couple things I wanted on sale so I figured I could get a deal or two. I go to this location all the time so they know me and our Yorkie. Years ago I saw a groomer through the window while at the checkout being mean to a dog she was working on and told everyone not to go there for grooming. Turns out I wasn't the only one to notice her. I quit telling people about this since it was years ago I figure that groomer is long gone. Well, today I was watching a girl working on a small dog's face and I was so upset I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was pointed to the general manager who was working one of the checkouts and told her what I saw. She said she'd keep an eye on her and thanks for my concern. I was so upset I left without spending a dime. I wish I could have run into that dogs owners in the parking lot.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | Never thought of that, they'd probably want her name etc and of course I didn't get that because I pointed her out to the General Mgr.

| You don't need her name. They could easily find out her name when they call the store and find out who was working at that time in the grooming area. You know half the time the "manager" is just a kid or something. I would be very angry to know that my baby was being abused. That poor little baby.

| My groomer said she once saw a girl at Petco slap a dog with a brush. I would never take my dog there.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | This girl clearly was mad at the dog. She kept grabbing his beard and jerking it and saying "stop it" through clenched teeth. Her face and motions said it all. I told the mgr I thought she was being very mean to the dog, the dog probably hated going to the groomer because of the treatment. I would never take my dog there and I won't recommend them.

| I am so lucky and maybe others should check into this in your areas. I have a groomer that comes to the house. After a bad experience at a groomer in which my dog was actually cut with the sheers and required "staples!!!!" I was able to find a groomer that comes to my house. She bathes the dog and cuts/blow drys right in front of me. I am there the entire time and actually assist. I feel good knowing my dog is not waiting in acage somewhere to be groomed - sitting under a heat lamp or mishandled. My shih tzu Lily Rose is "very tempermental" when someone goes near her face so I am able to give her a favorite treat, liverwurst, while she is being cut. It is especially good for the yorkie because with her being so tiny I want to make sure they pay attention to her little legs, etc. It costs about the same as any groomer at a shop and I have satisfaction of watching and handling my dog, and the groomer at the same time! |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I was waiting for the dog to snap at her, all it did was raise it's paw one time as if to surrender. It wasn't holding perfectly still and she was trying to cut around it's eyes but it wasn't moving that much. If she couldn't do it she should have asked another groomer to help hold the dog or let another groomer do it's face.

| This is so sad. I would definitely try calling corporate. I'm sure they could figure out who was working at that time.

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | I went online and gave it a review. I said I loved the store but not the grooming dept. I said the review was for the grooming dept not the store and gave it one star which means "awful". It says mgrs see the reviews but I will call tomorrow during business hours and follow up.

| You my friend are way nicer that I would have been! If it were me and I would have seen a groomer acting that way I would have stepped up and said something directly to her loudly enough to make the manager come over to me. Call me a troublemaker but someone needs to have a voice for these little ones. Not only that but I probably would have hung around to see the owner if they had me mad enough. I just don't play games when it comes to stuff like abusing animals. You did a great thing speaking up and letting the manager know what was going on this that poor little pup.

Donating YT 500 Club Member | That is terrible! I would continue to get in touch with corporate, until I spoke with someone! The manager there knows this person and it should not be hard to figure out whom it is! On behalf of the owner and all others THANK YOU!

| My Shih Tzu was groomed at Petco, and I think she was hit with a comb. I took out the comb to comb her hair. My dog started to shake, and she would not come to me when called. She never did this type of behavior before. I had to give her food to allow her to trust people with combs. I wanted to call Petco, but I had no proof. All I know was that she had a traumatic experience at the groomers. She never went back to that Petco to get groom. |

| This is so sad and scary. I am pure blessed to have a groomer my dogaughter absolutely ADORES! That says a lot! Unfortunately, with this economy my groomer had to close her shop and ended up working at one of the chain stores... being lucky these days to even find a job. Also unfortunate, she works at Petco. I know in my heart that bad things go on in both private and corp. businesses. But I also know in my heart that my groomer would NEVER hurt an animal. She also would NEVER tolerate an animal being harmed. Sadly though - thats only ONE out of thousands of Petco's we can trust 100%... or groomers at all for that matter. This Petco is in Tampa and I go there from here in the Keys (6 hours). The girls name is Kristen and she is a pure angel. I wish we could all do more. I feel so helpless sometimes. xoxo |
