I am so lucky and maybe others should check into this in your areas. I have a groomer that comes to the house. After a bad experience at a groomer in which my dog was actually cut with the sheers and required "staples!!!!" I was able to find a groomer that comes to my house. She bathes the dog and cuts/blow drys right in front of me. I am there the entire time and actually assist. I feel good knowing my dog is not waiting in acage somewhere to be groomed - sitting under a heat lamp or mishandled.
My shih tzu Lily Rose is "very tempermental" when someone goes near her face so I am able to give her a favorite treat, liverwurst, while she is being cut. It is especially good for the yorkie because with her being so tiny I want to make sure they pay attention to her little legs, etc.
It costs about the same as any groomer at a shop and I have satisfaction of watching and handling my dog, and the groomer at the same time!
