| The nail should not be touching the floor or table. When cutting Yorkie nails, cut until you see a black dot in the middle of the nail. Cutting more than that will make the quick bleed. In some cases, the quick is long, & even if you cut a tiny bit, it'll bleed. That's ok, put some styptic powder or flour (if not available), put pressure on the nail & the quick will retract.
