| I Need Grooming Help I would love to let Mimi have a top Knot. Do I need to let the hair on the bridge of her nose grow into the top knot? I attached a couple of pictures of her below. The hair that is "fanning out" at the bridge of her nose towards her eyes is what I am questioning. Thanks.....

| Linda, I would let it grow. You will be glad youy did. That "fan" will be gone as it is pulled up in the top knot nice and neat

| Thanks Sonya....I thought that the "fan" hair should be included in the hair that gets put in a clip or rubber band.

| i cut that hair- Layla has a top knot but just using her 'bangs' it isn't worth the month or so she can't see to get that hair up there- so we just trim it as it gets in her way. |

| Ideally, yes you would grow out the hair on the bridge of the nose, but it is possible to have a topknot and still keep it short. What works well during the terrible growing out stage is to buy some Petsilk Topknot Gel to keep it out of their eyes.

| Ok...that make sense. I can see what you do in her picture. So just let the top hair (what you call bangs) grow long. As of now....that hair that is "fanning" out is bothering her eyes. I could only imagine when it got a little bit longer BTW....thanks for posting that picture.

| She is too cute! Molly has the hair in her eyes problem and I think I'm just going to start trimming hers as well. Thanks |

| As you can see we have the same problem. I've been growing out Gracie topknot and nose for some time and it seems to be taking forever. No sooner do it put in her topknot and half of it is out and covering her eyes. Here's my solution!!! Before and after.

Therapy Dog Donating Member | Linda you can't go wrong with the Petsilk top-knot gel. I love it and use it for Izzy's fly-aways and she has a long coat. You can do either let the fan grow out or trim it. I have Izzy's all grown out - but then again I never cut her hair short. I like the top-knot and then I buy those little clips to keep the hairs in place and use those once in a while for a change up. Mimi's hair will grow in no time but in the meantime get that gel - you can get it from Des.

| Haha. Gracies before pic is what my Maddie looks like all the time! We call her the sheep-dog now, cuz, she won't wear anything in her hair. Only lasted long enough for me to take a picture, and then she'd shake it all out and chew on bows/rubberband/clips. Top silk can only do so much and last for probably half an hour, and then the sheep-dog return |
