I have not taken Suzi to be groomed yet. AND I have not had a dog that needs it either. SO I am more on the scared side of the whole thing. I would not leave my pup alone, not because i do not trust the groomer, but, because It is the first time ever taking her, and i do not know what to expect. I have observed groomers at Petsmart. Only one, I felt was very gentle and good. I watched two groomers restrain a poodle on the table. One had the dog by its neck and throat. I was pissed just by watching that. I made an appointment with the man, but chickened out and cancelled . I have heard through word of mouth about a lady who does grooming in her home and is suppose to be very good, and experienced. Perhaps by word of mouth and what others are talking about wil be the easiest thing to do in finding a trustworthy, experienced groomer in my area. :aimeeyork |
He still looks cute :) I understand how disappointing it can be though. |

I agree that it is a good idea to stay and watch your puppy if you are nervous about it, however sometimes that makes the puppy more upset and nervous. You convey your nervousness to the dog. And if the dog can see mom, it usually wants to go to mom! My salon is set up so that you can stay and watch your dog being groomed. But if it is creating a problem, I pull a curtain accross the window. |
He's adorable, but I would not be happy either. I just got my emma to let me put a bow in and keep it there.... If the groomer cut off her "bow holder" I would be VERY unhappy!!! |
I am so sorry :( The same thing happened to me when I had my boy groomed for the first time. They did the TOTALLY OPPOSITE of what I asked for...and I gave SPECIFIC directions on what I wanted done - even brought in 2 or 3 pictures  Anyway....his hair grows super duper fast so I was really lucky. Your baby still looks SO cute no matter what though - and I do like his new cut :) By the way, I just have to add in that with his new cut, he now reminds me SO MUCH of another member's Yorkie....the Yorkie's name is Brownie and the user name is browniesmom622 - it's something about your baby's face and Brownie's face....they totally look alike to me (especially through the eyes) :) |

Oh my goodness, you are right! They do look alike. I have looked and looked at Yorkies on here, and had not found any that truly reminded me a lot of Preston. He is a teapot for one, so the little babies have a totally different look than him, but Brownie has the same facial structure, and their eyes look SO much alike. Definately gives me a different perspective on what I might eventually grow his face hair out to. YEAH!!!! I am getting more used to the cut, and it is ok, just still disappointed that he is right back to the eyebrow thing. I was joking with my husband yesterday telling him that when I look at Preston right now it reminds me of those little girls whose mom's (and yes mine did this when I was little) put the piece of tape across their forehead and cut their bangs along that line. HA , that is really what it reminds me of. |
I don't trust groomer's either Sorry Chrissy0277, i Also don't see what take's so long to groom them. i get all 3 of mine done in 1 hour the most, That is one shaved into a style & all 3 blow dryed & sanitary cut's & ear's shaved. There is no reason for a dog to have to be there all day if there done the owner should be called right away. |
Im just real sensitve to the issue right now, go back and read my post about crazy woman's yorkie (i vented in this topic).... I have been called alot of things in life but never have I been accused of wanting to harm (or shall I say kill in her words) someones yorkie just because she complained about the haircut I "attempted" to fix. There was no fixing that cut she gave her dog, it was beyond horrible. I cant even be in the building when she comes back. It was supposed to be redone today by another groomer but she cancelled. Im telling you if this were my grooming shop I would of refunded her money and told her to go elsewhere. People like this cannot be trusted, you never know what they can do to harm you (by their words) You dont accuse someone of wanting to you to not kill their dog because they complained about a bad haircut. Im beyond insulted (its not even about the haircut) all it takes is one complaint such as this to loose everything you have worked so hard for and in this case my 12 year reputation. Im sorry she wasnt happy but she should of came and not sent her daughter who had NO CLUE what was getting done to her dog. I couldnt get any instuctions out of her whatsoever, I had a hard time getting her to just make eye contact with me. I had a gut feeling I shouldnt of groomed this dog, but I went against it because that little dog really needed some haircutting help.. Which was beyond my help :( Note to self always trust your instincts I groom Kalina and Matty every 2 weeks and I have them both in and out in less then an hour. I can see on a saturday dogs being at a grooming shop for about 3 hrs but days like this you ask for an express grooming, it costs a little more but sometimes its the little things like this that give one peice of mind. Groomers take more then one dog at a time but when you ask for an express that aloted time is set aside just for you and your dog. Im grooming a new YT yorkie tomorrow as an express grooming Quote:

You want to know what my biggest issue is with this now that I have gotten used to the cut? To me he doesn't look like a puppy any more! He looks like a young boy. I guess it would have happened sooner or later, he just turned 1, so I guess I need to let him grow up. BUT I DONT WANNA!!! LOL |
Do you know of other yorkie lovers in your area? If so why don't you ask them where you take them? Maybe thier groomer would be better? Also, if you do end up taking him to a groomer again, and I know you shouldn't have to do it, and it would be alot of work, but maybe you should type up EXACTLY what you want done, and maybe even print out some pictures (you could find online) of what you want done? Sorry you had such a bad experiance. Maybe also try looking for a groomer who may have a home buisness, if you were taking him to a place that grooms alot of dogs they just didn't do what you wanted because they didn't have the time/energy to do it. I would have refused to pay for the services, told them they either fix it somehow or they would not be paid. Or I would have asked to talk specifically in person to the groomer. |
