| ![]() I found that Layla lost her puppy coat (not so much blew the coat.. kinda just shedded it slowly) around 6 months when she was teething (it was a fun time for all!) that lasted about a month and her adult coat came in. |

| ![]() I didn't know that yorkies blew thier coats. I shave off all the puppy hair on my yorkies and then let their adult coats grow in so maybe I missed the blowing coat time for them. I have a yellow lab/german shepard mix that blows his coat twice a year and it's TERRIBLE shedding!!! I have never noticed any of my yorkies shedding hair at all though. |

Lee, when I bathe my kids I have loss as well but no more than what a human would shed.... intact females; pregnancy and or nursing can blow coat as well as change color...both sexes can blow coat under stress, poor diet, drug reaction, allergy to food or shampoo/conditioner.

Thank you Kimberly, this is exactly what I posted in answer to this question on another board and a certain person had to come straight under me and undermine me. I told her that if she is ever a breeder she will know first hand what we are talking about. She was trying to post all kinds of research to prove yorkies do not 'blow' their coats. only double coated dogs. i have experienced two bitches blowing coat first hand when pregnant due to hormonal changes. so thank you once again. | |

| ![]() We all have different experiences...I really do not find my puppies or adults blow their coats...breeding bitches can certainly lighten in color, but the amount of coat tends to remain the same...but I know breeders who have bitches wind up with very thin coats after a litter...it just happens. |
