What have I done? I took Zoe to yet another groomer hoping this time they might know that she is not a schnauzer or any other small dog....now, I must admit to you that throughout my being down because of my thyroid, I haven't been the best at brushing her like I should..:embarasse.... she had a few matts that I figured would be best dealt with by a groomer instead of myself, since I am just learning how to do the whole clipper thing. So I leave her there with instructions to NOT shave her nose or lashes like the last groomer did, just trim up the head.....I left feeling pretty good...even took a magnet for the fridge. Then about an hour after I dropped her off my phone rings....I know, I know, I hear you all saying...I should have just stayed there. But I didn't. I was kind of worried that he was already done with her...one hour.:scratchhe I go to pick her up and burst into tears at what she looks like! :crying: He has completely shaven her to the skin! She looked miserable! I'm in PA...its still chilly. All I could say was shes naked! She won't lay with me right now which I'm sure she is mortified! Zeus and Peppee acted like it was a dog they had never seen...I guess she kind of is....I know hair grow back but I am just simply heartbroken. I am going to try to post a picture so you can see what I mean |
Oh my gosh Im so sorry for your puppy. How can this man call himself a groomer how do you go from just trim the head and take out knots to skinning the dog?! How could anyone whom calls themself a groomer ever let a dog go from their shop like this knowing full well they would not get any good word of mouth or advertising from this from the owner of the dog he/she sends home. I sure hope he was not happy about this cut when you came to pick her up? I would never have done that if the knots were bad I would have worked on her as I tell everyone that I groom for three hours and if that doesnt work then I make another appointment to finish the job the next day or week which ever is better for the owner! I live in WV and it is very hard to find a good groomer whom does this kind of work for the love of an animal. Which is why I have taken up doing this. Right now not so much as I was when I lived in the southern part of WV but still yet. WOW I am amaised that he would do this. You didnt pay for this job did you?? I wouldnt have!! Sorry about your little puppy. Tracy :aimeeyork |
OMG! I am so sorry you have to go through this. I mean, I know it isn't lethal but it is still horrible to see. I have gone through this before, which is why I took it upon myself to groom Louis. I would have not paid for this, but when it happened to me I did. I don't know why I did and why I just didn't go all off, but geeze! I'm sure some sweaters will do until the baby's hair grown longer. Sending hugs to you (sorry about your thyroid) |
That's so sad about your Zoe getting shaved so short. It will take a little while for everyone to get used to it but you all will and the weather will be warming up soon. Don't blame yourself, it's not your fault that you can't trust some people. |
Pictures of Poor Zoe Hopefully I did this right...she normally isn't very cooperative when getting pictures done..so tonight was no exception. She hasn't lifted her ears all day, nor has she eaten or drank. I feel absolutely horrible! She hates wearing clothes but I can't just leave her naked so she is completely miserable! Dang it...how do I get these pics up here..keeps saying it exeeds forumns limits... |
poor baby.. I know how you feel you would think they'll listen.. but no! PM me if you want me to post them for you.. you have to resize them |
this drives me NUTS! I am so annoyed with this happening....it seems that several people on YT are facing this same behavior from "professional groomers"?????? Where in the h--- do they get their training? I would absolutely throw a fit......and demand some recourse......does she have a boss? What is her stand on this issue.....is she downright ignorant.????Oh, gosh...sorry, it is not my place to get p'd off.....but, there is not excuse. As difficult as it is to grow out a Yorkie,,,for a "so called" groomer take it upon her/him self to clip any dog to the skin in the winter...should be reported to the BBB, or her corp office, or someone!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo sorry for you and hopefully this poor little Yorkie will forgive you....:) |
This guy is the owner/groomer. He wasn't ignorant...all he really said was she will be more comfortable now. I am sure that matting of the hair isn't the most comfortable but to be completely naked? Everything...you can even count her toes. The only thing I wanted shaved for sure was her belly. This is about the 6th one I have been to. Each of them were bad in my eyes for one reason or another but this one is horrible! |
Pictures of Poor Zoe |
well My Goodness Gracious!! did he not realize she was a Yorkie?? Heaven Forbid! I surely hope you didnt PAY him for what he did to her? hard to believe people get away with such things!!! make me more and more glad daily i'm just going to do it myself now!! but,, isnt she just so soft now? i hope,, kinda like when our son was little and got a flat top,, i loved to rub his head,, Bless her Bones!!! hope she doesnt get a chill!! |
Pictures of Poor Zoe oops...accidently deleted the first one..Sorry not so good with the uploading business. http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...Picture383.jpg |
Ohhh, poor thing! (Both of you) This must have really been quite a shock, and I can't for the life of me understand why he shaved EVERYTHING. I know it is not much consolation, but I can still see how beautiful she is! Maybe you can find some clothes that she will be comfortable in until it grows a bit....it will surely make a wonderful puppy cut, when it is just an inch or so, because it will all be even. My thoughts are with you.... :) |
She is definately soft..and now I was able to prove to my husband that she was NOT fat..she just had a lot of hair. :bleh: I guess I could always move the picture over to Off the Topic and start a new game...Zoe is _______kind of dog. :blush08: |
ohhh poor baby.. I'd be really poed... I would definately tell this person off.. how could he do that?! |
You are way to nice... Quote:
I guess "ignorant" is a matter of opinion regarding this person's judgement in grooming your Yorkie..... 1. It is winter 2. You did not authorize a skin clip 3. He did not call you to discuss the "knoting" issue 4. He is supposed to be professionally trained and credible 5. He took it upon himself to assume that this clip would be fine with you Not a phone call to you at all during the grooming. 6. He has not looked at any yorkie pictures lately. 7. When in question.......ASK!!!! 8...You are the customer, you decide how you want your Yorkie to look... NOT him....it was not open for negotiation.... PERIOD! Yep....I think the above justfys why this person acted ignorantly regarding your Yorke. I wish I were there, .....or I was your MOM.....you are being way to nice..... |
one more pic Heres one without her being held..doesn't she looked so sad? http://i266.photobucket.com/albums/i...cture389-1.jpg Live and ya learn I guess. |
Yes with what you said...he is an ignorant bastard..whew...that feels good! I had discussed with him about the matts and to be honest there was one that may have been closer to the skin but given time...more than one hour I would think he as a professional would have been able to work it out...and if not he could have shaved it and you wouldn't have known the difference because it would have been hidden under the rest of her hair. I just hope it doesn't do anything to her psychie (sp?) She is clearly upset, won't look at me, not eating just laying on my bed sleeping...it breaks my heart! |
Good for you!!! Quote:
How about a letter to the editor of the local paper...LOL |
What a jackass! Um, hello, what the heck did you do to my dog?? Poor baby, I am sorry. |
Thank you all for your support...it really has made the difference!:love-hug3 |
Poor baby. Looks like she's saying "Mommy I'm cold, put some clothes on me" Now you got me nervous about bring Romeo to groomers. |
Boy I would be mad too... Your poor little baby!!! I would never have paid him, and I might have even left threatening to sue!!! I hate when people do what THEY want to your dogs... your kids.... you home.... What ever happened to treat others as you would want to be treated??? HUH I would go back there and demand my money back or you will be going to court to get it back with extra added on for pain and suffering... (I have never sured any one, but being 47 and in menopause, I feel I could do it in a heart beat these days!;) ;) ) |

There are just too many horror stories. I don't use groomers for Ellie at all. It isn't worth it. If I had to use a groomer, I'd be sitting right there watching... Original Poster: You could report them to the BBB.;) |
I have had a night to think on it and I am going to contact this groomer, leave an honest rating on the website and contact BBB. As I sit here typing this, poor Zoe is in my bed with the covers up to her neck...which is where she has been all night and yesterday. She did finally drink some water, but still has yet to eat. Even my husband said, She looks so ugly..thats not our Zoe. Just the look on the poor babies face. She is literally naked...under her sweater anyway. I took her to a groomer thinking I would screw it up to badly because of the few mattings...I will NEVER take her back to a groomer. I truly believe they should have to be licensed just like a regular hairdresser. I never thought it could be worse than the westie or shnauzer cut the other groomer have given her. Again, thank you all for your support and advice! Your are the best! |

I hope that respectable groomers in other countries try to move towards some kind of qualification as well - there are so many people on this forum scared of going to the groomers, which just does not happen in this country. I've attached a photo from the grooming salon where my mother works' website. This is a Yorkie that visits them. I know that the groomers occasionally bring in breeders to teach them to perfect the pet cut for some breeds. |
I would be furious! Sweet boy, make sure he doesn't get cold until his hair starts growing back. |
I would be soo mad! To shave her down that much, OMG   Definitly give that groomer your opinion, and go through with the ratings on the web and contacting the BBB. It seems like there are so many groomers doing stuff like this now. Your baby is still soo adorable though! Just make sure you keep a sweater on her so she doesn't get too cold. |
3 Attachment(s) I understand you are totally mad... I had to shave my Harley down for health reasons, but trust me when I say, you will get used to it and it will grow back. Here are some pictures of my Harley: 1. Before he was shaved 2. Shortly after he was shaved 3. After less than a month (he's growing back pretty fast) |
Aww I dont blame you one bit..What the heck is wrong with these groomers, She will grow back, And is still very cute & Sweet:) Big Hugs to you & Zoe. |
Thank you! I keep telling her she is still cute! :) |
