[QUOTE=erickajm;1858939]This guy is the owner/groomer. He wasn't ignorant...all he really said was she will be more comfortable now. He wont be in business long if he continues to upset customers. IT's not his right to determine if your dog will be comfortable.! He should have discussed his "pro" opinion with you before taking action. I hope you didnt pay him! What was his reaction to your being so upset? |

She shivered the first two days i had her home and was very scared and "skiddish" I felt horrible. But after 2 days she was back to rompin around!!:D |
oh my gosh Awwww, Im sorry for you both. i live in FL and the weird thing is, down here tons of ppl clip their yorkies like that. I dont know why exactly, maybe for flea control but I dunno for sure. I took my Duncan to a new groomer, told her EXACTLY what I wanted and when I picked him up, she did the exact opposite of what I told her. His legs were shaved and his skirt was gone, but his body hair was long. I was like WTH! Needless to say, he was mortified. And I was just plain pissed off. But...now it is growing back....sloooowwwwwly. So you are not alone. At least ur lil one is in high style in South FL! Feeling your pain, Elizabeth Duncan and Piper :animal-pa |
i live in Pa too and i always get my yorkies shaved down like that, for one working full time and being a mother, i don't have the time anymore to brush them like i use to. Believe me their hair will grow back beautiful. i think your yorkie looks nice, i just put sweaters on them when they go outside and there fine. |
poor baby! i would kill that "groomer" She's still so cute! thank god her hair would grown back, and now you have a nice chance to put pretty clothing on her to keep her warm :) |
Well as an update: I think Zoe is eating this up! She and Peppee shared a crate at bedtime before this but with my feeling so bad I was bringing her...and peppee back to bed with me so she would stay warm..she is like my little shadow now. She is back to her normal self..until I put a sweater on her to go outside..she hates being dressed. She freezes and looks like you just broke her heart! So now I'm just waiting for it to grow back in....I guess one pro will be when she has her babies, her hair won't get in the way  Thanks again! |

ggggggggrrrrrrr! I am so tired of hearing this same horror story over and over. Groomers taking it upon themselves to decide what will make someone else's dog "more comfortable"!!! As everyone has said, I know it will grow out, and make a cute puppy cut - but, that's not the point! |
I see you are near Harrisburg. I know of groomer in the area that I trust, although I have started grooming them myself. (because I enjoy it and its much more cost effective). I do trust this groomer, however. If you are interested, send me a pm. As far as the hair goes, Ginger ends up getting a shave down every summer because of allergies. I've gotten used to it and she does look cute. BUT...the hair does grow back!!!! |
New Doo Comfort First, I want to let you know I understand. I was visiting in South Korea (we're military) and asked for a trim, well...something got lost in the translation and she was completely naked when I got her back. I mean she looked like my legs after shaving. She didn't quite know how to act, but once we were both over the shock, she got used to it and so did I. It took her a couple of days to get back to her normal self. I would tell her how beautiful she was and cuddle her alot in a nice, warm, soft, fuzzy blanket. One saving grace...they kept her ponytail intact. However, the short cut really grew on me (no grooming visits for at least 4 months, yep it was that short) and I've kept it short (not down to the skin short, but pretty close)ever since. After the initial cut, we had several folks ask if she were a Chinese Crested, ya know, one of 'em 'ere hairless dogs from China:) LoL. The benefits were: It was easier to clear up a few skin conditions she was having. Stateside, we live down south in a very rural area and I could spot the occasional critter on her immediately. Note to self, watch out for sunburn if it's still really short when the weather warms up. Her little t-shirts, sweaters and dresses fit better (vanity, but somehow, she knew she looked good regardless of the cut...even if she's too young to know about Sinead O'Conner). Keep you head up, remind her she's beautiful and don't go back to that groomer again. BTW, I'm learning to groom my baby myself... |
Poor Zoe, that look on her face is priceless! She was like "What happened to me!!" She's still adorable and she will look cute in clothes all season!! |
I'm sorry about your baby, but your comment has me lmao!:D Quote:

It is the principal, would you like to take you long haired daughter in for a trim and have the stylist give her a pixie cut? Then have someone tell you it is just hair,it will grow back? |
awwwww, she is so precious, even if she is nakey!!! Look on the bright side, her hair will grow back sooo pretty.... Mine has never been to a groomer and will never go... I am too scared of the nightmare stories.... but your baby is beautiful! d |

The only thing I can ask is, are you sure the matts weren't worse than you think they were? I have had many clients come in wanting just a trim up, but I CLEARLY show them and let them know if their dog is too matted and if shaving is the only option they have to OK it first. If they don't want to do that, I won't do their dog (b/c I am not bathing a matted dog and getting left with the possability of that dog getting an infection from wet matts left on their skin). If that wasn't the case, then SHAME on him for not consulting you first on what he was going to do!! |

Again, thanks for all your nice words...Zoe is definitely reaping the benefits of being bald...lots of snuggling under the blanket! She shivers constantly...even with clothes on...I'm starting to wonder if it is becoming a habit so I will hold her wrapped in a blanket! (she is no dumb broad) She still looks....how do I put it....horrible. But I love her all the same. Yes it will grow back but like others have said, that clearly is not the point. There was one matt that was closer to the skin, but could've been either worked out or cut. I took her to a groomer because I figured (wrong) that a groomer would be better suited to deal with it than me. Clearly this groomer didn't know his head from his ass when he decided to not only shave her body down, nick her hoo ha but also shave her nose when I told him not to. I don't know a courtesy call would have been nice..."Hey Ericka...I am going to shave your sweet girl down to the bone so that she will look like a chihuahua, oh and yeah..I don't really care that you want to leave her hair on her head alone..I am going to chop it all to hell and shave her nose too." Its one thing for me to screw up a hair cut. But for someone claiming to be a "professional" to do it is ridiculous! I believe that EVERY groomer should have to go to a grooming school to learn about the different types of dogs and different types of cuts. They should be required to have a license...lord knows half of them charge as if they do have one! hmm....I didn't realize I was so pissy until reading my reply. :hmm33: This subject as you can tell has become a real sore one for me. |

3 Attachment(s) I had this happen to Mia. She's grown out now - but it's been almost a year :( 1 Before the cut 2 Right after the cut 3 Close up of her body vs her face :thumbdown You can see how long it is in my avatar - I have been trimming & thinning every couple of weeks but she does need a good cut now. |
Holy Crap! Well, now you know why he was done in an hour. |
Blitz ~ As soon as my phone rang at an hour my stomach instantly had a knot in it..I knew there was no way she could be done... I don't think it would have been near as tragic had he left her hair on her head alone. So now, we will just have to be patient as her hair grows back. Chalk it up to a good learning lesson...no more groomers only I am allowed to mess her hair up |
Really do not see your point... It is obvious that this person is or was a groomer....at least that is my "opinion." The point is you gave the groomer instructions to perform a service.....just like repairing your car......he chose to ignore the instructions and perform the service without your approval. So, bottom line, he was wrong, he did not have a "choice". You are the customer....it was NOT his choice... Now, whether someone "sues" or not is their perogotive....that is permitted in this country, that is one of our rights, so to speak.....but, if indeed you did want to take him to small claims court or not....that is up to you......I know what it is like to sue someone, when everyone says "you'll never win, it too much trouble....bla bla bla.....well, I did and guess what......I won.....against all odds....lol. I see that you have resolved to the fact that "groomers" will not groom your dog...which is not a bad thing.....I tend to agree.....get a good video and do it yourself....LOL Best wishes.... Quote:

What gorgeous hair she had!!!! Quote:
Wow...she is pretty! |
Angie's Bark Ave - Mechanicsburg Warning! Stay away from this place! As a first time customer, there was a severe lack of customer service. We have a small Yorkie puppy, and we requested they not use the table grooming leash around her neck due to potential trachea problems. The staff gave us a hard time, treating us like we didn't know what we were talking about and that they knew best. Thankfully, they didn't put the leash around our pup's neck, but the fact that we were treated the way we were was very upsetting. We were told it would be an hour and a half wait, despite having an appointment. We were unable to watch our pup get washed and dried. We were told they did not use heat but we don't know for sure. The shampoo that was used made our dog smell like a car freshener mixed with stale cigarette smoke. Our pup's eyes have been red (bloodshot) and watery since we brought her home. One nail on each paw was forgotten while being clipped. Her hair was cut very unevenly, some of which we did not notice until we got home. After they gave us our little girl back, we were told what we owed and that was that. Again, the lack of customer service made us feel like they didn't even care if we came back. Overall, we were not impressed and we will not be back. From a first (and only) time customer, STAY AWAY! |
