| How old would you do first grooming? Hi Everyone- Gleason is 8 months old this month and I was wondering when everyone got their yorkie groomed for the first time. I am toying with the idea but he is so cute with the baby look but I know I probably need to do it soon. Joyce Ann |

| it really depends on the person.. some people do it at a few months.. some people don't do it till after they're a year.. some people never cut their baby's coat.. and some just trim it. I got Kayah cut when she was 6 months old... I know that once their adult coat starts growing.. you're SUPPOSED to cut off all the puppy hair.. but again, It's all up to you and how you like their coat

| I think I groomed my pups i think around 6 to 8 months...But it was just a trim here and there. I also think it depends, on how short you want your baby's hair as well.

| I started doing it at 6 months myself. It didn't look as good as a groomer, but hey it was free. |

| My vet says the sooner the better, if you are going to do it because they handle the first experience better and they are more manageable when younger then when they get older they are used to it. Definitely should not be till they have had there shots. I took Lily for the first time when she was 7 months old.

| I took Samson to the groomer at 5 mos. but the groomer was at his vet. I felt it was safer there and he wasn't finished with his shots but the groomer/vet recommended it for his first time. I wanted to see how he would do since he hates being brushed. I haven't taken him back yet - I do what I can at home. The groomer said that he was ok for her but I'll wait for a little while before I start him on a regular grooming schedule. Maybe when it warms up since it's so darn cold!
