Hey Edith. i'm sure you are SUPER busy with your new pup!! WELCOME EVIE!!!! so exciting! but i video taped how i groom Layla tonight. i don't actually GROOM her in the videos because i'm not sure you'd be able to hear me with the clippers on... I hope this is what you wanted... if you want a more detailed video of something in particular let me know :) I hope it is detailed enough... i do this every weekend so to me it is second nature so don't hesitate to say.. hey.. i really dont' get... whatever :) There are 6 videos in total coming.. the first one is JUST how excited layla is to get groomed (it's the treats.. there is no way i'd be able to do it without the treats :)

ok it SOUNDS like i have lisp in this video... i don't... nto sure what happened there... perhaps the quality of my camera :rolleyes:

ok this video got cut off... ran out of time on my camera... but basically if you trim her belly when she is on her hind legs you can get the side hair without having to worry about getting that fold of skin... Also i use the small clipper (that i show you in the next clip) and put her on the back on the ground to get that hair...

i think what you specifically asked for was how to do the face.. this is THE hardest part... because she hates it.. lol.. well she USED to... still isnt' crazy about it but she now udnerstands that each time i do it.. she gets a small treat.. and even though she might jump or flich.. i hold on and finish the cut before she gets anything... i usually have my mom on the other side holding her but she was manning the camera :) i part her hair in the middle ot make sure i get the hair that is usually pulled back in a clip. oh crap id din't show you how i do around her eyes.. if you want that let me know :)

i think there are two more coming :) if ANYONE has questions i'm MORE than happy to help :) i'm so glad i'd made the decision to groom at home! saved LOTS of money and layla hated going to the groomers :)

These videos are great visuals on how to groom our babies....

I have a ??? how do you groom them around the eyes so that the hair doesn't get into their eyes????

i know i TOTALLY forgot that... i take small scissors that you'll see me use on her ears... and i just trim the ones that are goign into her eyes.. i leave the rest because i would love for them to grow out and not be a problem.. so if they are in front of her eyes i get rid of them.. otehrwise they stay and every morning i have to use a warm washcloth and wet them down so they will lay flat :)

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the videos! They are so much help. I am interested in seeing the eyes and ears groomed. Where did you get the table , clippers and scissors? And . . . . what kind are they? Thank you so much for sharing.

ok ears is loading.. it will be the next one up :) eyes.. i just posted below how i do it but i'll make a video of that tomorrow and post it on here

I use ANDIS clippers... were kinda on the expensive side but i only wanted to buy them once and i wanted them to last.. the comb is also Andis... i got that and the grooming table (30 dollars) from petedge.com the scissors i bought from petsmart and they were 25 dollars.. they are great... really sharp.. i've had them for about a year.. maybe less and havne't had to sharpen them yet..

i only use the straight ones because i have never had a need for the others and not totally sure what i would do with them :p

ok i was wrong.. next will be chin and the "behind" area.. then ears and then finally feet... it's taking a while to upload but it's coming :)

Thank you so much for the videos. They have DEFINITELY BOOSTED my CONFIDENCE! Now I am anxious to get started grooming Shyasha myself. Just have to find and purchase all the necessary supplies. And thanks to little Layla for being such a good model. ;)

lol.. i thinks she knew she was on camera.. she is NEVER that good... i was surprised!!! haha... you can get clippers at petsmart.. you dont' have to buy them online.. and if you have someone to help you you can just put down that rubber stuff you put on sheleves or somewhere to stop cups or whateve rfrom moving.. you know?? it comes in a roll... you can get it at walmart.. anways.. and that will stop her feet from slipping but you will need someone to make she she doenst' jump off the counter :)

Just wanted to say thank you for posting your videos. They were very informative. I might try grooming Bella one day. I have groomed my Maltese mix but totally different hair.

Layla sure is a good little girl. Such a cutie too! :p She is so patient while you groom her face and feet. Did it take her a long time to get used to the grooming table?

great videos layla sounds like brownie i should take a video of him trying to kill the scissors i must say tho he is getting alot better i use to never be able to use a clipper but now i do every 2 weeks & i dont have to hold him down i use to need my mothers help i groom him 100% by myself now ! YAY

Thanks for posting the videos! We would love to groom our two ourselves, but I think my Mom and I have always been worried we would screw up and they would have mohawks or something!
You did a great job and Layla was so good!

well Layla will do anything for treats... i think she is part lab :p so i can get her to stay on because of that... but when we first got it i'd just leave it around and let her check it out... would put on her on it (while it was on the ground) and ask her to sit or lay. and give her treats and now ... as you saw... when i take it out and put it on the counter... she can't get up there fast enough!

Great videos! I've been doing Bernie myself and it gets a little easier each time. Definitely picked up some good tips from your videos, and Layla is such a little angel!!!

That was so nice of you to take the time and post those videos.
It's nice to know I seem to be doing things right. The face video was
very helpful to me. Buddy being a larger Yorkie seems to have so much
hair around his face, it's so thick I thought about sectioning it and cutting
one layer at a time, lengh wise and pinning the rest with a clip.
You do a wonderful job on Layla. Thanks again,

OMG First of all, HOW did you get Layla to be so good!?! My two would NEVER stand for that, especially on camera! Second, you do such a wonderful job! You are so confident in what you're doing, and Layla always looks great-I didn't know you groomed her at home! Finally, I LOVE the videos-it's like "getting to know Marci & Layla at home"-just hearing your voice & seeing you and Layla in grooming action makes me feel like I know you both a little better.

LOL, Marcy does make it look easy. I don't swear so much, but I find if Bernie figures out I have treats, I'm done for. Then all he can do is try to find the treats. He's much better without them!

Marci!! thank you so much!!! those videos were wayy more than I expected!!.. now If I have any problems or anything.. I can just come back and watch these as a reference!!
Layla is so calm!! does she start getting jumpy when the clippers go on??
That's what happens with Kayah.

Is that the table that turns?? if so.. that's the one I want!

Oh! one question... how far are your fingers when you're cutting Layla's face?? are your fingers touching her face or is there some space between??
Also, how long (once finished) do you think the hair on her face is??
