The table does turn and i got it at petedge! my fingers are probabaly an inch to an inch and a half from her face when i trim... it depends... if i know i'mgoing to be busy and wont' get to it sooner i cut her hair face very short... probably 1/2 an inch away from her "chin" but usualy it is roughly 1 to 1.5 inches long. and i can USUALLY get away with not doing it for 2 weeks. glad it helped! | |

| Marci~ I am SO thankful you posted these!!! You did a fabulous job of doing it AND explaining it; you made it look so simple (which I KNOW isn't exactly true...I TRIED to do Max last weekend!). I didn't even have clippers, LOL b/c I was afraid of what I might do to him with them, but now that I see how you do it, it isn't so intimidating! I like the way my groomers do Max, but for him to look that good all the time, he'd have to go almost every week or at least every 2 weeks and that's just too expensive. So I thought that at least I could give him a "touch up" or trim when he needs it or I want him to really look good in between (or if I'm being extra-cheap that month ). I would still have to have his nails done, but at least that doesn't mean they keep him for 4 hours each time! I have a couple of questions : when you do the tail, do you just trim all around it? I found that Max seems to have more hair than he looks like he does and it's very fine when I cut it, so it sort of surprised me. I'm afraid I'm going to take him into the groomer's and they're going to think "what the heck did she DO to his tail????". And about how long does it take you if you're doing everything? Oh...and do you shampoo first or after? I did it first b/c I can't imagine trying to cut his hair when half of it on his face is all stuck together from his food or whatever getting into it, but my dh acted like I was weird for shampooing him first. I think that's the only questions, LOL. And the idea of using that rubbermaid stuff is excellent! I had Max on the floor and it was a HUGE hassle, LOL. Til I get a grooming table, I'll put him on the counter (well, I finally DID do that, but we have granite counters and he was sliding all over it ). Thank you thank you thank you!!!! Seana and Max

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | Those videos are AWESOME. Thank you for posting them. I started trying to learn, but I put a bald spot on Eddie's forehead last time so I've backed off. Maybe I'll study and try again.

| Marci, why don't you make more videos and start your own grooming site? There are some grooming clips online already but they don't show an adorable little Yorkie.

| well i LOVE Layla's tail long.. it gets all curly and i like ti wrap it around my fingers.. ok too much info.. so i don't trim it.. but when it does get too long i just hold it like i hold her face.. between my fingers.. and cut stright across I cut first then shampoo.. for two reasons... washing her after will get rid of all the stay hair and because if i blow dry her THEN cut.. lol.. layla is a fluff ball after blow drying.. it would be VERY hard to trim freshly dried!! |

| Well I did enjoy the video and still I wish I had it before I chopped my boy up as it still helps the novice(me) who knew not a thing about cutting but went ahead and tried it anyway.
