Looking in NJ HI! I'm new to yorkie talk and after hearing so much about this site from yorkie owners (including my mother lol) I had to see for myself. I am currently looking for a yorkie or yorkie mix in New Jersey. So any help would be much appreciated!! I heard the site can be very educational. While my family has had yorkies my whole life, there is never too much to learn. Thanks in advance! |
Where are you in NJ? |
Welcome to YT and good luck on your search:) sorry no help with that though I am way out in the middle of the US LOL |
I'm from Jersey too! I heard Top Notch Pups was good. Go look at these CUTIE pies!!!!!!! If you get one, good for you...I will be so jealous!! LOL :p http://www.puppyfind.com/view_listin...2526page%253D1 |
I think a friend of a good friend of mine just had pups about a week ago. Obviously they are no where near ready yet. If you want me to get this persons info send me a PM. Try and buy from a breeder, this way you can see mom and dad and how the pups living conditions are and how they are raised |
Thanks for the info Crissy. I'm from Monmouth County and I have NO idea how to send a PM. lol I also don't know if I can wait another three months for my baby!! I will if I have to, I don't want to though! I'll never just settle. Is your friend a fulltime breeder or just occational litters? Fidgette that pic you sent me was so cute! Are they the same people as Top Notch Yorkie? I've actually run into people that have bought from them. This one couple had a morkie and her colorings where exactly like a yorkie puppy. That was like my dream puppy. Lookswise, anyway. I love the Yorkie breed, their look, color, personalities, mannerisms, but I am just loving these mixes that I've been seeing. Maybe I'll just have to get one of each! lol. Has anyone bought a puppy from Top Notch Yorkies? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!! |
top knotch pups and top knotch yorkies are the same people. we are in nj too.:) |
My friend has an occasional litter. You wanna try and stay away from anyone whos breeding their bitches over and over again, like every heat |

I have a baby from Top Knotch Pups. She's awesome. Tryin to get my husband to let me have another. Livee is now 17 mos, beautiful and healthy. |
I am hearing that EVERYWHERE. I am VERY impressed by her reputation. It's a shame that individuals personal opinions try to ward of potential buyers from her. All I want is PERSONAL EXPERIENCE direct with Top Notch. i thank you so much for that. So how has your year been? Have you kept in touch with her? How is your pups health? Was she always available when you needed her? there's anothr broker being discussed on here, about how when his pups get sick, he's no where to be found. Thats my main concern.] Thanks so much!! |
LIVEE is wonderful. I had a Yorkie for 13 1/2 yrs prior to Livee (I had gotten him from a friend that had puppies). Rocky, he was my world:love: , I had to put him down  June 2005 he was tired and we doctored him with congestive heart failure for 2 1/2 yrs, it was his time. I never thought I would get another puppy. I did searches and found Susan. I got Livee in Sept 05 and I'm sooo glad I did. I've had no health problems and if I ever have a ? or concern Susan is there. Over the summer she had a puppy reunion and it was great to see her and the other pups. I know people say bad things about brokers and that's their opinion. I'm not replying to you to start another breeder vs. broker battle, so everyone please lets not start one. I'm just replying to let you know my experience:) . If anyone has any ?'s please feel free to email me or post another ?. GOOD LUCK to anyone that's looking for their baby. |
top knotch pups I am a veterinarian where Sue who owns Top Knotch brings her puppies. I can say with all honesty that she takes excellent care of her pups and loves them dearly. She is very honest to deal with, will not sell a puppy that has problems like heart murmurs, patellar luxations, etc. I would highly recommend her as a source of some of the cutest yorkies and yorkie mixes. |

I have a question for you "drboolittle", do vets support puppymills? I find it interesting that a vet would support a broker or even recommend one considering that brokers aren't getting their pups from responsible breeders and the shelters are full of dogs. What are your feelings on this topic? |

puppy brokers vs puppy mills I do not under any circumstances sanction puppy mills, and have to say it would be difficult to find a vet who does. I know for a fact not all brokers get their puppies from puppy mills. Sue Morgan has visited Brazil and Georgia, where she has met the breeders of the puppies she buys. They are reputable breeders, not puppy mills. I was also not vouching for ever puppy broker, but rather Top Knotch Puppies. There are reputable brokers and non-reputable brokers - and the same can be said for breeders. There are some breeders who will sell a puppy they know has a defect and not tell the purchaser about it. And then when I see it, and send them a not-fit-for-sale certificate, refuse to honor it. People were questioning where to get yorkies and yorkie mixes and I was just saying that Top Knotch is a very good place. |
to ali22, if you've done a search than you should know that I never posted about how bad she is but have pointed out what should be obvious to us all - she is a broker and to recommend a broker is the same as recommending a puppy mill. None of the people who have purchased from her have seen the parents or living conditions of the dogs, and no reputable breeder ever sells to brokers, ever. drboolittle, I'm surprised at your reaction. I find it curious that you are a new member of a yorkie based website and your very first posts are recommending this particular broker and then defending her as if you have seen the living conditions of these dogs' parents yourself. You only have her word that they were not purchased at a mill and she's making a fortune off of people who are in the market for a pet and they don't know any better. I thought a veternarian would know this. Maybe its just me, but I see a pattern here. |
what the #*&% Ok Kaymo, I'm not going to get into some kind of pissing contest with you. My first post was responding to someone (not you) who was looking for a yorkie or yorkie-mix in South Jersey. Here I come, trying to do someone a favor and offer up someone I know personally, whose puppies I have seen many times. My second post was responding to you. This does not a "pattern" make. It takes many postings to make a pattern. The word is spelled "veterinarian" not veternarian. You cannot possibly make a blanket statement about ALL breeders ALL over the world that they would not sell to brokers. That's just ridiculous. Have you met all breeders all over the world? Do I take Sue Morgan's word for it that she has seen the puppies parents, and knows the breeders? Yes, since I, unlike you, Suzy Cynical, do not doubt everyone, particularly people I've not even met. I promote Sue's puppies because I believe she is very careful and caring about her pups, not because I get a kick-back from her for doing so. I also know that she does not "make a fortune" from her puppies. It is her job, just like you might actually have a job. It is a crime to make a living at this? No. So get off your high horse and shut up when it comes to something and someone you don't know. |

But I don't understand how you can make assumptions about how she buys from puppy mills. That's not fact. A possibility, but not fact. There could be amazing breeders and kennels in Brazil for all we know. You've never been to her Brazilian breeders either. I have read, and heard in person, some amazing things about her and not ONCE did I hear about someone who has bought from her and has not been 100% satisfied. I think if she was buying from puppy mills, she would be selling sick pups. And if she was selling unhealthy pups, I'm sure it would be on here somewhere. There is NO WAY that this woman could be selling sick dogs without a bad reputation. ESPECIALLY because brokers have such a bad name, SOMEONE would be posting it all over the internet. Someone would be taking about it. I mean look at yorkiepup.com. If there is one thing I think we can agree on, it's that puppy mill puppies are truely affected by life in a puppy mill. I truely think these dogs are tramatized. Now I can see maybe a few slipping through Top Notch Yorkies without any behavioral or health issues, but the majority of them??? People rave about their puppies/ dogs that they got from Top Notch. How can there be so many well tempered healthy dogs from her if they've all come from puppy mills? Also, under the NJ Lemon Law, isn't she legally liable for health problems? Why would she risk selling unhealthy puppy mill pups with looming vet bills? It is VERY possible that not all brokers are bad. I personally believe that all men cheat, but I would never inflict that theory on anyone and I love to be proven wrong! I think steriotypes, predujices, and pre-judgement are some of the worst traits of humanity. EVERYBODY is different. BTW, I'm still on the hunt for my pup, I'm not done doing my homework! I came on Yorkie Talk to get some great recomendations (which I have) and to hear peoples personal experiences with different breeders. Not biased prefferences. Kaymo, I'm sorry if this post is coming across snotty (can't use the better word lol). I hope this doesn't turn the thead sour. But why the conspiracy theory with Top Notch's vet?? AND I LOVE THAT THERE'S A VET ON YORKIE TALK!!!!! I was hoping to meet a Vet on here that I can badger with Yorkie questions!! Lol JK |

I found this on the topnotchyorkies.com testimony page. I know that ANYONE can write their own testimonies, ie yorkiepup, not saying that they are DEFINATLY written by the owner, just looks a little suspicious(don't want to get Mr. Dane's panties in a bunch lol). But I love how they all have before pictures of when they were puppies and after pictures of the pups home with their owners. Anyway, I saw this and was VERY impressed by the story and what she did to get the dog out of the most unimaginable circumstance. What kind of sicko would SELL their PET to a puppy mill??????? "Nancy, Casey's Mom has become a very good friend to Top Knotch. She has sent many referrals our way. Georgia's story is an unusual one but for reason's beyond our control and certainly beyond Georgia's, she found herself in a puppy mill to be used as a breeder. She was only 16 months old at the time. We found out when the new owner was attempting to register her and the names did not match up so we looked into it. We went to the place and demanded they sell her to us for the same price they paid the person who sold the dog to them. I had been told it was $600.00 so we offered that to the puppy mill operator and she agreed. Georgia was in her 2nd heat and we found her in a cage with at least 6 other females and one male. She was filthy, not house broken but healthy. Right at that time Nancy's sister lost their dog so it was meant to be. Nancy picked her up and took her to her sister's family and they adore her. She was not pregnant, has been spade and with patience, has become a wonderful family pet. We pride ourselves in seeing that our pups go to good families and I was upset with myself that I allowed this pup to find herself in that situation. But all is well now and here is a picture of Georgia after we got her back and cleaned her up and with her new family member, Erin. " |
I never said she was selling sick puppies, I said she was buying puppies for a very cheap price and then reselling them for a lot more money to the public. You've never seen the parents or their living conditions so you can't make a judgement about where they come from. In the words of another YTer, you are either for mills or against them. Pick a side and get off the fence. I've made my point and obviously you have your mind made up and will support brokers and therefore mills. I cannot let these posts go unchecked because this forum should be a resource for members who choose to learn. As for drboolittle, I'm not on a "high horse" and I find it childish to resort to insults and name calling as you have done, ie. Suzy Cynical. What I find offensive is how a veterinarian could ever support or recommend a broker. I find it offensive that you don't realize that its not okay to make a living off of buying and selling dogs like they're property, buying low and selling high. That's exactly what this broker does. A broker is the same as a pet shop. I have always recommended finding a reputable breeder who has an absolute love for the breed and breeds for the betterment of the breed to find that next show dog, not for that next buck. Any breeder who's in it for the money cannot be breeding for the betterment of the breed. And no reputable breeder would ever sell their puppies to a broker because they care too much about their puppies and what happens to them. Maybe you missed the word reputable in my posts. I never said you received a kick back. I have no I idea where you got that from. As for shutting up, that's just rude, but as long as there are puppies being sold like property I will never shut my mouth! I have contacted my state and federal legislators to lobby for laws to stop mills and brokers/pet shops. |

As a veterinarian and someone who is (or should be) well aware of puppymills etc I am shocked that you would even promote (your words) this practice. The next time you are just sitting around reading about yorkies on the computer I hope you take a minute and check into how many brazilian mills there are. And if you have any REPUTABLE breeders that come into your practice perhaps you should ask them if they would sell to a broker. Do get back to us with their answers won't you? |
