Some Possible Breeders, Suggestions Welcome! Hello, I'm new here! (Sorta, kind of not since I've been lurking around as a non-member for some time, but anyways ) I'm looking to welcome home a Yorkie baby in a couple of months around May/June. I've been doing a lot of research and such, and trying to find a breeder in the New York area. I have found a few, and really have my heart set on one, but I haven't gotten a response from her after filling out her puppy application. I figure I should give it some time due to the time of year we're in, and then maybe call or email if I still haven't gotten a response. The breeder that I'm interested in is Susan Hertz of Let's Talk Yorkies. She seems to be very reputable, and is fairly close to me. Please let me know if anyone has anything to share about this breeder! Since I haven't gotten a response, the panic is kind of starting to set in, which is probably irrational and I'm thinking I need to start to look for other breeders. I don't want this to be super long, so I'm going to list some others below that I've found that may be promising, and let me know if you have anything to share on them. And also, please if anyone knows any breeders that could be worthwhile in checking out then, leave those suggestions as well. -Crown Jewel Biewers and Yorkshire Terriers (a member here, but hasn't posted in a while) -Dollard Yorkies -Twilight Yorkies -Clover Hill Yorkies (the YTCEHB still lists as NH, but I'm fairly sure has relocated to CT) Also, I'm in Brooklyn, but it seems that there are no reputable breeders in Brooklyn, so if you can steer me towards ones, that would be awesome too! Sorry if this was a hefty post!

You seem to be on the right track with researching breeders. Susan Dodge of Clover Hill is in New Hampshire, but I wouldn't hesitate to get a pup from her. I've heard Susan Hertz is a good breeder, too, but I don't know personally. Wingold Yorkies in NJ is also supposed to be a good breeder, as well as the Jenks in Connecticut, but I also can't speak personally about them. I've heard there are some good YTCA breeders in the tri-state area. I remember when Crown Jewel was on YT, and she appears to have really nice dogs, but as you can already see, I hesitate to recommend anyone I haven't had personal (myself or close friends) knowledge with. I hope you find the baby of your dreams.

You are very welcome. If you start a tread on the breeders forum, you might get more responses, especially if you ask about specific breeders. This forum doesn't get many readers, and I only came across it when looking at new posts. I got my little girl in Canada, but being here over five years, I've read a lot about breeders. It's all so overwhelming and scary, but be patient and wait to find the right breeder. It makes a world of difference.

| I have a Yorkie from Foxfire and have seen many of Susan's dogs, but don't personally own one. If you would like more info please inbox me :-)

Breeders My advice is BE CAREFUL. My friend & I have had bad experience with one breeder in particular. I now have BB, one year old on 12/30/14 who I got from Tom/Windgold, NJ. He may be showing at the YT show in February 2015 in NYC. L&BB

I'm sorry to hear that, but that advice is well-heeded! Did you mean on this list or just in general ? If so would you mind telling me about it, in a PM if you'd prefer. But thank you, hope your BB is doing well

Breeders I have not been on this site in a long time. I purchased STAR (pictured) in 2006 from Wendy Garcia/Yorktown Heights. The woman never responded to me regarding questions about my new pup = too busy?? A new friend with a yorkie also had a bad experience with her. STAR had many medical problems, the worst a collapsing trachea which killed her at EIGHT years old last June. She also had severe allergy problems. Even with pet insurance, it was very costly. Even my new BB has been to the vet several times due to bowel problems. Most recently on a new food, Natural Balance bison & sweet Potato, she seems to be doing well. I am looking into going to the Yorkshire Terrier show in NYC, February 2015.
