| I hope you are safe... Those of you who live in the out-skirts of BDL, and other parts of CT who are affected by the snow, please be careful of downed power lines and falling trees.

| we lost power for 8 days. lost alot of limbs from the big trees surrounding the house. the first nite was scary as hell. a huge limb fell onto the roof and really shook the house. did not get much sleep that nite. when we woke up the next morning the yard was covered with down tree limbs. couldn't even see the grass. but thanks to my dh we were comfortable for those 8 powerless days. we have a wood stove that kept us pretty warm. i also cooked on it....which i loved. we also had an old generator that we used only a couple hrs of day due to shortage of gas. we were also lucky to have gas powered hot water. and thanks to all our years of boating and living off the hook we instinctively knew what to do when there was no power. we also had alot of coolers. in a way it wasn't too bad...life was alot simpler and the family got much closer. that i especially loved.
