( I don't want to offend anyone)I Had A Bad Experience At The Pet Store Today I went to a small neighborhood Pet store to get Pepsi some shampoo and a few other things.So I'm walking around looking at all the different things this store has I've never been there before.As I'm standing in one of the isle and this young Caucasian lady walked up to me with an attitude like can I help you,"what do you need" I told her what I was looking for which was oatmeal shampoo,do you believe she just walked away.I didn't say anything I just continued to look around. In the front of the store there are kittens waiting to be adoption,so people were holding them,rubbing them showing the kittens luv I walked over to rub one of the kittens and the same lady walked over to me and "said we don't allow people to handle the kittens".I'm heated now:mad:. so I turned to her and asked about the shampoo I asked about earlier,she points to the corner of the store where shampoos are.BUT HERE'S THE KICKER she walks back over to me and asks me what kind of dog do I have,I told her a yorkie,she's like really..... that's unusual are you sure you have a Yorkshire Terrier,it's easy to get confused,she then had to the nerves to asked if I got him from a homeless dog shetler or a puppy mill,I asked her was she joking.She said NO most of my people have mutts.I can't take it anymore I laid into her a** like a new rug.I told her to let me see her bylaws where it wroten that my people(blacks) can own a yorkie and for her FYI I didn't get him from a homeless shelter or a puppy mill.I got him from a licensed breeder and I paid in cash straight out without a layaway plans.:cool:I wanted to beat the he** out that woman. |
I wouldn't go back there again, you can spend your money anywhere |

The owner needs to know about this. I would write a letter to the person in charge and tell they you are also sending a copy to the newspaper and news station. I guarantee they will not ignore your letter. Sorry you had such a bad experience. THOSE people set an example of how NOT to be. |
That is just plain ignorance! I agree I would call and ask to speak to the manager or write them a letter. That is so messed up!! |
u never know who's who Well I was truely just gonna let it go,I told my mom what happen and she hit the roof, so my mom(Barbara),Pepsi and myself all went back to the store.My mom asked to speak to the manager,owner ,who's ever in charge.The store owner was there when he came out,he didn't have a happy look on his face,My mom explained to him what happen,but he had already knew his daughter had call him(she works the register in the the store and over heard what took place earlier)come to find out this is not the first time this lady has done this, he had got a letter a few months ago from a unknown customer complaining about this same lady and he asked his employees but noone would speak up,so he put his daughter in the store,she's home from college and none of the employee knew who she was,to them she was just another worker.He said in today world money is to hard to come by and he wasn't letting anyone keep him from making it.He let her go :thumbup:( I felt alil' bad)He apologied and gave Pepsi 250 dollars store credit,2new crew toys and a bag of treats.:aimeeyork I just want to THANK everyone for their support with this issue,I truely enjoy this site:D |

I always tell myself not to jump to conclusions maybe the person is having a dad day or something, but when someone acts so blatantly racist I am like you and can’t hold my tongue any longer. You and your mom did the right thing and as far as feeling sorry for her that goes to show what type of character you have. You are a caring and sympatric person. That woman on the other hand is a ignorant butt. |
Good for your mom for making you go back in. :thumbup: It doesnt matter if you like to start trouble or not that is NOT acceptable at all! Sounds like the owner is a good guy though! I think you should always let the owner know so they can deal with a situation like this, he sure handled it right! And Pepsi can get some new things :) |

I have two boys both from overseas and I think it is a shame how people have raised their children. My older son is 16 now and of course dating. He's a very popular kid and the girls go crazy over him. On one occassion I had a parent say to me "your son has an Italian name, he is Italian right." Meaning, because he has darker skin is he Mexican. My boys are both from Guatemala. I find that predjudice is not through children, but through the adults that raise the children. I also think it works on all sides. I've seen whites that are predjudcie and I've seen blacks that are just as predjudice of the whites, and that goes for the spanish, Indian etc. I wish that people could see that color does not make a person who they are or aren't. I'm glad that you got compensated and I hope the owner fires the girl. Elaine |

I SERIOUSLY can't stand any kind of bigotry - what on earth makes a person think they are better than another ? You did the right thing going back and speaking up - people like that do not need to be dealing with the public. (not what I really want to say but it's a public site) :D Remember - there's KARMA and people like that deserve the bad kind! |

Sorry to hear about your experience. You don't need that kind of attitude. Don't shop there and call the store manager. I had a similiar experience at a supermarket when I first bought my house. When I was looking in my bag for my wallet one of the cashiers said "a lot of minorities are moving into the neighborhood". Meanwhile the cashiers are grown adult women 40+, and I was dressed in business clothes. I wanted to reply, "because so many people are foreclosing on their homes because they're making minimum wage in a supermarket," but I didn't want to insult the other cashiers who didn't say the dumb comment. Instead I called the store & stopped shopping there. |
Good for your mom and you going back to the store. You should not feel sorry for this woman because if she is in a position of customer service, then she ought to be nice to people, period. There is absolutely no reason for someone to be ignorant to anyone because of race. It sounds as though the store owner cares about his business and clientle--great place to shop and send your friends! |
Wow......people are crazy now days.It makes you feel like time is standing still this is not the 1930's,people need to grow up GOD knows no color we're all his children.I'm not going to lie if that same lady would've said that to me a few years back I would've wiped her a** like she stole something,but I'm not a child anymore,you live and learn life is trails. Its not your fault this woman lost her job, its hers. It wasn't the first time she was rude to a customer so she got just what she deserved. Unfortunately she probably wont learn from her mistake, that kind of people never do. |
