snip snip for Jersey Boy

Well the time has come, Jersey is scheduled for snip nip on 10/01/09. all I need to do is get a urine sample. Any suggestions on collection methods? LOL

Sorry, no suggestion on the collection method but good luck on 10/1/09.
It is a nerve wrecking thing to know that your baby is having surgery but he will be fine. Again, someone mentioned it earlier, but Duke too was groggy the first few days but was back to jumping and walking quite soon.
Duke also wore a plastic cone to prevent him from licking it. I also have a fabric cone but that didn't work out very well.

lol, Believe it or not, take a lid from like a tupperware container. But don't make the mistake that I did and hit Jersey Boy with the cover while he's trying to pee! That freaked Hot Rod out. I did it fine the first 2x (it was easier at home cause he uses pads) but then I had to do it again because he would pee at the vets so I volunteered to get a sample for them. This is when he had a uti. I know that the people in the offices had to of thought I'd lost my mind, lol. Kneeling down under a yorkie with a lid. Ha, ha, ha. But I got the sample! You can try a container but make sure it has a wide opening.

Well this morning 6 Am there I was on the ground still dark out with little light peering out the kitchen trying to place the top from a pam cooking spray in just the right spot, needless to say I only got 2 drops lol, Jersey was looking at me as if to say "what are you doing now?"

Ureka!!! The flat lid worked perfectly. Sample is ready to go!!!!

Of course you don't need it now, but my vet provided a urine sample kit. It consisted of a container to put the urine in, & a shallow collection tray. They have small & big dog size trays. Gus would jump every time I put the tray under him when he started to urinate. Finally he got used to the tray.

Prior to succeeding with the tray, I was so desperate to get a sample I used a syringe to suck up urine from my hard wood floor. I collected it on a Sunday & didn't know whether to store overnight in the refrigerator or at room temperature. Test results were a disaster due to contamination.

Well tomorrow is the day 9;00 am. No food or water after 9;00 pm tonight. I can't wait until I'm picking him up and giving him kisses, I just want it over

Hi,
All went well He was back to himself on Friday afternoon. But he sure looked sad Thursday and Friday morning. It is amazing how quickly the bounce back from surgery.
