| Intestinal problems Hi My friend's Yorkie, Chucky, became quite ill about 3 weeks ago. It started with diminished appetite and then progressed to vomiting, diarrhea and not eating. Went to vet and was kept overnight for hydration because he was dehydrated. Came home a bit better and then regressed to same symptoms. Ultimately had endoscopy and intestinal biopsy which showed IBS and ulcer. Chucky has had stomach problems since he was a puppy. Their next door neighbor has a Yorkie, Albert. He started with same symptoms last week but also had bleeding from mouth and rectum. He was put on same meds as Chucky. Now my little girl, Chloe, who is Chucky's girlfriend and spends a lot of time with him, started same symptoms a week ago. She began to loose her appetite, then stopped eating and drinking and began to vomit the day before yesterday. I took her to the vet and she was kept overnight for hydration. She came home yesterday and I was told to give her a bland diet like chicken and rice. She ate some chicken and regurgitated it. Today she ate nothing, took her meds (same as Chucky and Albert) and then was vomiting and had diarrhea all day. She also won't drink water. The vet wants her to come back tomorrow to possibly stay overnight again for IV hydration and possible xray. This is exactly what happened with Chucky. We all live in North Plainfield, NJ. Has anyone else had this happen? We're wondering if there is something contagious going around that vets haven't recognized yet. Any thoughts? |

| Does your vet know about all 3 dogs having the same symptoms and their connection? Was there any blood work done? I would have them look into it further...it sounds like they either all ate something that made them sick or something is contageous. Good luck...I hope they're all better soon! |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | have they been checked for parvo? i know that's contagious. also have they all been playing in the same area? maybe they picked up Lepto. Do they come in close contact with each other frequently?

| Yes, the vet knows about all 3 dogs and only two of them play together, Chloe and Chucky. Albert lives next door to Chucky but he is behind a privacy fence. All of my dog's blood tests have come back normal as well as her stool specimen. She is current on her vaccinations and just had a general checkup on October 14th and was fine. There is something called the Camden virus but the symptoms don't really match. Chloe has still not eaten but did drink a little water today. Chucky's mom is bringing over some Nutracal later to see if we can get her to have some nutrients. Thanks for all of your ideas. |
