| How long should I wait? When i get my Yorkie he will be 10 weeks old. How long should I wait to take him to the Lake with us? We will be on a boat most of the time. We usually stay out on the lake for a few hours. I just want to make sure i do everything right! |

I would wait till your puppy has all its shots, including rabies, plus it on heartworm preventative and flea/tick preventative before bringing him to the lake.

Are you going to be leaving the puppy in a crate while you are on the boat? Or, are you taking the puppy on the boat with you? If you take him with you I would buy him a little life jacket.

| What a lucky pup to have his own boat!!! I don't let my babies leave home until they are between 12-16 weeks old. That way I know they have had all their shots. Surprised your breeder lets them go so young. But then, I tend to be a little neurotic about mine. I agree. get a life jacket for him. Please send picture. |

| I was going to let out on the boat. We are hunting for a lifejacket as we speak! I will post pictures just as soon as I get him! Thanks for all the great information! I love this place! I hope to get him Thursday but if he isn't big enough I have to wait another week! Last edited by dandymarriott; 07-09-2007 at 07:22 AM. |

| This is Lucy in her lifejacket (couldn't resist). We spend a lot of time in the water so it is one of the first things we wanted her to get used to...Good luck with your new baby!
